Overview

This is the Requests for Rename page. Archived requests can be found here. The rename policy is as follows:

Requirements

  • The account can only be renamed once every six months.
  • The account cannot have more than 10,000 edits.
  • The user is not seeking the rename to conceal or obfuscate bad conduct.
  • The new name is not already registered on the wiki.
  • The new name is not too similar to another editor's username.
  • The new name should not be inappropriate, at the discretion of an administrator.

Process

To file a new request or nomination, please fill out the following form and place it at the bottom of this page in the 'Current requests' section:

=== YourUsername ===
* Current Name: {{Rename|YourUsername}}
* New Name: {{Userlinks-short|YourNewName}}
* Reason for changing your name.

~~~~
  • Replace YourUsername with your current username, and YourNewName with your desired username.
  • An admin will look through the request and either accept or decline it.
    • Declined requests will be given a reason.
  • After a request is accepted, a Bureaucrat will have a final say and carry out the rename.
  • Old requests are archived here.
Current requests
Below is a list of all of the current rename applications. Click here to add an application.
Avery the Squid Phoenix
  • Current Name: Avery the Squid Phoenix (talk | contribs | rename)
  • New Name: Avery_TSP (talk | contribs | logs)
  • Few reasons. One: Avery the Squid Phoenix is too long, clunky, and hard to remember and type. Two: Avery_TSP is my username everywhere else, including in Splatoon. Even my signature is just Avery_TSP. Three: Avery_TSP matches me more than the full name does. I try not to be too showoffy and my current username doesn't really reflect that. Four: Avery_TSP matches everyone else's usernames more than the full name does. Five: Avery the Squid Phoenix is a cringe name and I have come to dislike it. Avery_TSP just sounds... better. Six: Avery the Squid Phoenix shares a few words with User:The Amazing Phoenix. It was really just a coincidence and not really similar enough to be significant (except in extreme cases) but I'd feel more comfortable having a username that is more distinct from everyone else's. But only a little (see point 4). (The only other name that starts with 'Av' is User:Avion9983, and those names are different enough that I'm fine sharing two letters. Plus, demanding one whole letter out of the just 26 in the alphabet be reserved for JUST ME would be rude, weird, and seriously contradicting point three.)
Thanks for your consideration! And, uh, sorry for making everyone read through a whole paragraph of reasons why I want a different name...
