The N-ZAP ‘83 is an N-ZAP '85 that Sheldon modified to faithfully recreate a classic limited-edition piece. It’s so faithful, in fact, that players think the buttons might stick a bit sometimes… But that’s not a bug – it’s a feature, right? The Point Sensor and Kraken make for a set that is handy for cutting off your opponents’ advance.

The N-ZAP '83 is a Shooter Main Weapon that was released as a free DLC on June 8th, 2016, as part of Sheldon's Picks volume 2.

Description

An N-ZAP '85 remodeled by Sheldon. The design is strangely nostalgic. The original weapon was better suited to a support role, but this version lets you jump right into the fray with a Kraken.

Competitive Viability

The '83, probably the best N-Zap, still does not see too much use unfortunately. The main weapon, while having a strong turfing ability, does not have the best range, and it also suffers from weak shots, leading to challenging kills for the weapon. To make matters worse, the Point Sensor sub does ver little to help with this. Luckily, the '83 gets the incredible Kraken invincibility special, allowing for easy kills, the ability to stay alive longer, and overall making it a much more dangerous weapon. It still suffers from having weak kill potential without a kraken, and there are better shooters that exist such as the Tentatek Splattershot, but overall the '83 is certainly a viable weapon, as it gets a bit of use here and there.

Trivia

  • This weapon has the 1983 early version Family Computer motif. The early FC has square A and B buttons. They might stick a bit sometimes…
