Vibe.png

Vibe is a feature that indicates the winning streaks of participants in online battles. In the Battle Lobby and in Lobbies while waiting for a match to begin, the Vibe Meter can be seen. On the Vibe Meter is a title and a number of flags. Every time the player's team wins, one flag is added to the Vibe Meter and, conversely, every time they lose, a number of flags (dependent upon the current meter level) are deducted.

If the player leaves the game mode and speaks to Judd in Inkopolis Plaza, he will reward them with cash based on their vibe. He will, however, only do this once per Stage cycle, and when the stages change, the player's vibe resets to 0, meaning they will lose their chance to reap the reward.

Ranks

The following table lists the Vibe levels, flag penalties, and payouts:

Meter Level Flags Penalty Payout
Chill (NA)[a]
Lukewarm (EU/OC)[b]
0 0 File:0 Icon Cash.png 20px
Toasty 0.5-3 -0.5 File:100 Icon Cash.png 20px
Smokin' 3.5-6 -1 File:300 Icon Cash.png 20px
SO HAWT!! (NA)[a]
On Fire! (EU/OC)[b]
6.5+ -1.5 File:1000 Icon Cash.png 20px

Players can only claim each rank's bonus one time per stage rotation, and when they claim one, all of the previous ranks' unclaimed bonuses are added to the reward. For example, consider the following scenarios:

  • Map selection changed.
  • Scenario 1:
  • Scenario 2:
    • Player reaches 4 flags (Smokin') and talks to Judd.
    • Player receives File:400 Icon Cash.png 20px.
    • Player loses a match, and is now down to 3 flags (Toasty). They talk to Judd.
    • Judd doesn't give any money, just advice.

Although, if a player reaches a certain vibe level, then goes down to a lower vibe without talking to Judd, they will still get the reward of the highest flag count they earned.

  • Scenario 3:
    • Player reaches 7 flags (SO HAWT!), but continues playing.
    • Player loses a match and goes down to 5.5 flags (Smokin'), and talks to Judd.
    • Player still receives File:1400 Icon Cash.png 20px for reaching 'SO HAWT!'

These rules are also true for Splatfest, and because the stages never rotate there, this means the flags and rewards are kept until the event is over.
