Rank is a progress indicator in Splatoon alongside Level. Ranks go from C- to A+.
Ranking
Players begin at rank C-.
Winning in Ranked Battles grants Battle Points based on the player's current rank. Achieving 100 points in any rank will allow for a rank up. However, dropping strictly below (but not exactly to) 0 points on a rank will drop the rank by one.
Upon gaining a rank, the player is started at 30 points and, conversely, when losing a rank, the player is dropped to 70 points of that rank.
Unlike the player's level, ranks currently do not serve a purpose other than bragging rights and earning more money.
The farthest a player can get is rank A+, and with 99 points, at which point the text showing the rank will switch color from white to golden.
