What do you call the ones that walk toward you and explode? http://www.auplod.com/u/opulda57102.png (talk) 01:13, 10 July 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The image you provided does not contain an image of an Octarian, so I am not fully sure what you are referring to. I do recall an Octarian like that which I believe first appeared around Mission Two. --SgvSth (talk) 14:54, 10 July 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Some sources call the one that the DJ Octavio shoots Octomissles, but I don't know if that necessarily applies to the ones you find in the regular stages. Redactedjpg (talk)
I'm pretty sure it is an Octopod. They walk or run fast towards you then explode to try and splat you.

Appearances

In the appearances section for different Octarians (e.g. Octostamps or octosnipers) sometimes it says which levels they appear in, for others it says what they look like. Which is correct? Mr Squid (talk) 04:23, 10 March 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Oh, that's "appearance" vs. "appearances". For simplicity's sake at least, we should make them all "description" and "appearances", like what's currently on the Octostamp page. That should make things less confusing. --Bzeep! talk 11:56, 10 March 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Great Octoweapons in Splatoon 2

Shouldn't we count the Splatoon 2 bosses as Great Octoweapons as well? I really don't understand why they wouldn't be counted. --User talk:GoombaBroadcast 17:37, 14 December 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Cirpy Chips Bass player

Should the bass player from Chirpy Chips, who is a flapjack octopus, be considered/assumed to be Octarian? It was never offically stated, and there have been shown other cephalopods who aren't considered Inklings or Octolings, so would it be better to remove the bass player from the list or at least mention that it's only an assumption? --Hinamin (talk) 15:10, 6 June 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yeah I think they shouldn't be grouped with Octarians since they've never been referred to as such. We could just have a trivia point about how they're an octopus but maybe not an Octarian. --Bzeep talk 20:35, 6 June 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Octarian Growth Cycle

Made an edit to the Trivia section. It is a common assumption among some fans that the artbook's detailing of the "Octarian Growth Cycle" applies ONLY to the lower-ranking Octarians, but at least in the English language version of the artbook, this is never stated and in fact the artbook page in question has the text explaining their growth cycle right above pictures of enemy Octolings.

There are also some evidences in the game which would imply that Octolings are grown from tentacles such as the Octavio apparently being an elite Octoling himself who creates new Octarians by cutting off his tentacles, with some like the Octo Samurai looking awfully close to a giant Octoling. Also, in the Octo Expansion, during the character creation screen, Agent 8 is seen growing in what appears to be a vat of liquid, which again implies that Octolings are "grown". Also, at no point in the game does the dialogue ever treat the Octolings as a "separate species". There are several cases where, again, in the English language version, Octarian is used as a broad label to include all Octarian sub-species, including the Octolings. I think a lot of fans just don't like the idea that Octolings may not have actual reproductive organs?????

Anyway it is possible that Octolings can reproduce in a normal sexual way and by removing their tentacles, but this hasn't been confirmed as far as I know. Also, there has been a new in-game band revealed that features a young Octoling DJ that looks kinda similar to some of the art of the developing inklings.

Point is, I feel like we're still waiting on more stuff to be revealed or possibly retconned in this area. Hope that helps.Octo-maker71 (talk) 09:54, 20 September 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
