A QR Code is a square black and white image that is designed to be scanned in order to visit websites, learn details about products, and more. In Splatoon 3, players can receive in-game content through scanning special QR Codes via the QR Code Reader in SplatNet 3.

For the release of Splatoon 3 on September 9th, 2022, the official SplatoonJP Twitter account posted the first special QR code. By scanning it, players were awarded a special Splashtag banner.[1]

Other games
On July 23rd, 2015, the Japanese Nintendo website posted 9 QR codes for items in Animal Crossing: New Leaf that were based on Splatoon. The following year, on July 7th, 10 additional QR Codes were posted with a focus on the Squid Sisters due to the then-upcoming Callie vs. Marie Splatfest.[2][3]
