A QR code is a square black and white image that is designed to be scanned in order to visit websites, learn details about products, and more. In Splatoon 3, players can receive in-game content through scanning special QR codes via the QR Code Reader in SplatNet 3.

Splatoon 3

For the release of Splatoon 3 on 9 September 2022, the official @SplatoonNA Twitter account posted the first special QR code. By scanning it, players were awarded a special Splashtag banner.[1]

The second QR code, released on 8 October 2022, was distributed in commemoration of Splatoon 3's appearance at Nintendo Live 2022 and the associated Deep Cut Concert at Nintendo Live 2022, and featured a Nintendo Live and Deep Cut-themed banner design.[2]

The third QR code was released on 30 November 2022 to celebrate the beginning of Chill Season 2022.[3]

The fourth QR code was released on 2 March 2023 to mark the start of the registration period for Splatoon Koshien 2023.[4]

The fifth QR code was released on 26 March 2023 in commemoration of the Splatoon 3 North American Championship 2023.[5]

The sixth QR code was released on 28 April 2023 in commemoration of the sneak peek of the Power vs. Wisdom vs. Courage Splatfest.[6]

The seventh QR code was released on 26 July 2023 in commemoration of the Version 4.1.0 update of Splatoon 3.[7]

The eighth QR code was released on 1 September 2023 in commemoration of the Splatoon 3 Championship 2023.[8]

The ninth QR code was released on 6 October 2023 to celebrate the Splatoon 3 European Championship 2023.[9]

The tenth QR code was released on 17 November 2023 to celebrate the Nintendo Live 2023 HONG KONG event.[10]

The eleventh QR code was released on 21 November 2023 to celebrate Chill Season 2023.[11][12]

The twelfth QR code was released on 14 March 2024 to celebrate Fresh Season 2024.[13]

The thirteenth QR code was released on 5 April 2024 as a celebration of the Splatoon 3 World Championship 2024.[14]

Other games

On 23 July 2015, the Japanese Nintendo website posted nine QR codes for items in Animal Crossing: New Leaf that were based on Splatoon. The following year, on 7 July 2016, ten additional QR codes were posted with a focus on the Squid Sisters due to the then-upcoming Callie vs. Marie Splatfest.[15][16]
