Shouldnt there be more on the Octoling hack? Also maybye should it have its own page or a section in rumors and leaks?OsFortyTwo (talk) 16:33, 9 September 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I agree it should be covered, though it is a hack and so it would need external citations. I wouldn't expect there to be enough material for its own page: a section under Rumors and leaks would suffice. Slate Talk Contribs 16:44, 9 September 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Friendly and Hostile Octolings?

Since the pages are split now, I was thinking maybe we should refer to the enemys as Octolings (Hostile) and the playable Octolings + Marina as Octolings (Friendly).

Does this sound like a good idea? I would make changes myself but I can't edit titles for some reason

IMO I don't really see any reason to have two pages to begin with. --Raltseye prata med mej 14:38, 13 May 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I also think the page should be split, or at least seperated into two sections, so that we have one page like the Inkling page describing the playable Octolings as well as Octoling biology and one describing the Octoling enemies, because the two subjects are basicly distinct from now on. -tecanec (talk) 12:22, 14 June 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Now that Octo Expansion is out I'm inclined to agree since it's seperated in the original language (Japanese) and also some others. Also since they do have different anatomy. --Raltseye prata med mej 12:59, 14 June 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Maybe we should try getting some more input before we split the page, through, since it is no minor edit. But it is just an idea. -tecanec (talk) 06:25, 15 June 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I really don't like using "Friendly" or "Hostile" to describe them. It would be better if it were "Species" and "Enemies" since Inklings already have their own species page. --InuSaki (talk) 08:40, 15 June 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yeah, I agree. We could also have the "friendly" Octolings simply be titled "Octoling" and the enemies "Octoling (Enemies)"-tecanec (talk) 09:08, 15 June 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Now that we split the page into two parts, sould we remove some information from this page regarding playable Octolings? -tecanec (talk) 08:01, 18 June 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Splatoon 2 Hacked Octoling Images

If possible, I think we should get an image of a Hacked Enemy Octoling in the player selection (like the one for Splatoon 1), just so it's easier to see the hair. We should also get a Sanitized version as well. GoombaBroadcast (talk) 6:55, 18 August 2018 (UTC)

Elite Octoling Hair Labeled as “Black / Gold”

So in the hair color section (first thing that appears), Splatoon 1/2 Octoling’s hair is labeled as “red” while the Splatoon 1 Elite Octoling hair is labeled as “Black / Gold”. After taking a look, I cannot see the color “gold” in the hair. If this is a mistake, shouldn’t we remove the “gold” or am I missing a hint of it somewhere? If this isn’t, then I’m guessing it’s the undersides of the tentacles, which later in the traits and appearance section is directly labeled as beige. After taking consideration of other possible factors, the only thing I could find was (sorta?) on topic, which is that from the images I’ve seen is that the S2 Octoling’s have a slightly brighter beige color under their tentacles. Also, please tell me if I made any mistakes in this topic. I’m used to editing the TF2 wiki and any habits that are acceptable there and non-acceptable here should be notified to me, thank you.

I'm thinking someone may have made a judgment on tentacle colors based on certain renders that feature light reflections—when combined with the dark brown tentacles, this could give the impression of spots of gold. I'm going to change it to "dark brown", as that seems much more accurate overall. Thank you! Driftin Soul [Talk!] 03:10, 13 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you, also, I’m not going to reply for a while to go back in the Splatoon 1 campaign and attempt to inspect the Elite Octoling’s in different levels to fully check if the lighting takes part in the color of the tentacles. I’ll take a few screenshots on my phone (which will be blurry as there’s lighting in my room and may distort the color of the hair) to provide and my word for it. I’ll be back soon and I’ll have my pages open to see each and every Elite Octoling that appears. Thank god the campaign is still up. I’ll be back soon with the results.
