:::I can't find it, but there is an article where producer Hisashi Nogami stated in an interview that the characters of Splatoon may be aware that their world is in fact just a video game and that they're just characters in the game. Perhaps it has already been referenced in another relevant section of the inkipedia, but it might be relevant to add here as well if someone has a link. Just added a bit of clarification in the Trivia section. While it was kind of a meme that Pearl & Marina's outfits in Octo Expansion resembled in some respects the late rappers Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur, I couldn't really find any confirmation that the developers were intentionally trying to reference or pay homage the two deceased recording artists when initially designing their outfits (unless I've missed something). Keep in mind that crowns, big chains and reverse tied bandanas have been a part of Hip Hop and urban fashion for a very long time. I feel like it'd be like saying such-and-such rapper invented wearing the Do-Rag. So, I chose to add that this similarity was mostly something noticed by fans prior to the Expansion's official release. Hair color

There are too many unproductive edits on this page about colors. Please just discuss it here before editing. The original "Black/Teal" should be used in the event that no agreement is reached. Heddy (talk) 02:01, 27 February 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I suggested Plum Brown as her hair color because it is a dark purplish brown that is close to what she has. In the Splatfest art, she is shown with a deep, dark purple in her Pop art. As for Ketchup, she was shown with dark brown hair. Since she is represented with dark purplish brown in-game, Plum Brown would fit as the mix of the two, instead of having to put Purple-Brown or Purplish brown.--InuSaki (talk) 02:23, 27 February 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

No opposition to Plum Brown, so that's what we should go with. Any edit that changes it from Plum Brown to another color (without discussing here first) is at risk of being considered vandalism. Heddy (talk) 04:16, 6 March 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I COMPLETELY disagree! It's supposed to be Black! I don't know about you, but it's Black to me!Destinithompson

I think it's Plum Brown anyway, besides, what it's supposed to be is irrelevant without a source. --Raltseye prata med mej 11:32, 13 March 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Keytar

I was going to mention Marina's keytar (w/Squid Sisters decal on the neck) in the trivia section *heh* Apparently I have to wait for this color matter to die down. *lol* -DJParticle (talk) 10:40, 1 March 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yeah sorry about that, DJ. It'll be editable again later of this week or tomorrow. I'm not really sure lol. --InuSaki (talk) 16:50, 1 March 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Breaking the 4th Wall

I was going to edit Marina's page with her "breaking the 4th wall" trend. I saw three instances for this: The Blackbelly Skatepark stage where she corrects Pearl about it being a stage and not a map, trying to prevent them from getting fired; a certain stage (I forgot which one was it) where Pearl ran out of free space from her text box, with Marina pointing that out; now the Chicken vs. Egg Splatfest where Marina points out they're living in a simulation and free will is a lie. Is three times enough to not be a trivia thing? Fairy27 (talk) 08:25 4 March 2018 (UTC)

I just created a wiki account because I was going to add exactly that (before noticing that the pages are locked for editing). Aside from the examples you mentioned, there's also the: "Does art imitates life? Or does life imitates art? Am I even real?!"; that, given the trend of her other comments, also seem to indicate a break in the 4th wall. It's pretty clear to me that there's a trend here, and should be noted on her page; it's one of the most interesting things about her. Ellye (talk) 20:28, 5 March 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Just a heads up that the page is locked until 6 march 2018 kl. 03.01, (UTC +1) due to an on-going discussion/edit war of the color of Marina's hair. --Raltseye prata med mej 21:58, 5 March 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Tupac reference

Just added a bit of clarification in the Trivia section. While it was kind of a meme that Pearl & Marina's outfits in Octo Expansion resembled in some respects the late rappers Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur, I couldn't really find any confirmation that the developers were intentionally trying to reference or pay homage the two deceased recording artists when initially designing their outfits (unless I've missed something).
