SplatNet

Thanks! The reason it was so fast is I wrote most of it like a month or so ahead of time, around when I joined the wiki (it was basically why I joined it since I'd been using SplatNet daily since its Japanese release and was surprised there wasn't a page). I guess I didn't post it from a combination of laziness, nervousness since I hadn't edited here before (I made sure to do as much research on the policies here as I could and to look at existing pages to make sure I was making it correctly) and just the fact the name of the page itself would be a little ambiguous. At first I was going to call it Squidring since I'd been calling it that myself, but I realized that was kind of conjectural and I should leave it as Ikaring and just make Squidring a redirect. I was also going to make "splatoon.nintendo.net" a redirect, since I knew form my squid squad's Skype chat most people who couldn't read Japanese might not be aware of its actual title. I guess it was good that I waited since the English version removed that complication. Once I heard it had been translated, I immediately dug up my draft and made the necessary updates.

Anyway, this is far from my first edit on a wiki, though it's been a few years so I had to remind myself how to do some things. But I'll save all that background information for my user page that I also drafted and never got around to posting (I'll get to that soon though). Zaptap (talk) 20:56, 10 October 2015 (UTC)

SplatNet Logo

I'm just asking that where did you find the high quality image of the SplatNet's logo. Because I'm trying to find the in high quality image of the Japanese website's logo. Thanks. InfiniteMusume (talk) 10:10, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

Ok, I'll walk you through this for future reference, but just so you know I'm giving you what you need at the end so you don't have to go through it yourself now if you don't want to.

You might have done this since you specified "high quality" but in general you have to right click, go into inspect element, and if you're using Chrome go over to the resources tab and expand the frames folder (for Firefox I think you're just limited to looking for links in the inspector), which gives you direct access to all of the assets used in the page--in SplatNet's case, images, scripts, and stylesheets. The image with the UI elements (including the logo) you're seeing in there is probably the 600px one though, which is only the one used for your particular screen size (that's my guess, at least. Not sure why else there'd be a huge version of those images). You're going to need to dig through the stylesheet/CSS file to find the bigger one.

The difference between inspect element and the stylesheet, in case you weren't aware (and I may get this wrong a little since I'm not too knowledgeable about it), is that inspect element just shows the assets used in your current view of the page, while the stylesheet outlines the basic structure of every page it's applied to, dictating what to do for different screen sizes as well. This saves space and time, since only being in one area allows the style of all those pages to be easily changed all at once. Even though the relevant images are shown in inspect element, the style sheet is technically where the direct links to them are all found.

The stylesheet's probably going to look a bit overwhelming since it's a huge block of text without any color coding or clickable links, so the best strategy is to do a CTRL+F search for an image extension, in this case .png. You'll have to copy each URL and paste it after splatoon.nintendo.net (so you end up going into /assets) and check what each of those images are. Some are repeated so it may be a good idea to memorize or make a note of a few of the characters preceding the file extension so you can skip them when they come up again. (There has to be some kind of easier way to do this, like I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to write a program that does it if you know how to do that kind of thing, but until then I only know the manual way)

I'll save you the trouble and link you the image you're looking for, though you still have to get the logo out of there. I happen to have the Ikaring/Squidring logo saved (as opposed to that one, the Takoring/Octoring logo), so if you need that too I can upload it myself for you to use.
