Xtrawave is a Known Occurrence in Salmon Run Next Wave.

Description

An Xtrawave can occur when a user has the Salmometer filled. Playing multiple games in a row (whether the player wins or loses) will increase the meter, and the more players with a full meter, the bigger the chance for an Xtrawave.

When an Xtrawave has been chosen to occur, the ending jingle after the third wave gets distorted, and a new wave begins, with the text "Emergency!" displayed on-screen as an alarm blares. A King Salmonid will appear along with other Boss Salmonids.

Losing the Xtrawave does not count as a loss by the game, and the player will gain their normal amount of points and some extra points for experiencing the Xtrawave and possibly rank up regardless of if you win the Xtrawave or not.

Trivia

• In the results screen, the Xtrawave appears like the other 3 waves, but with "XTRAWAVE" instead of the wave, and the king salmonid instead of the Golden Egg count.
• Prior to Version 1.1.1, the text appearing before the third wave would read "Wave 3" instead of the regular "Final Wave" if an Xtrawave would occur for that shift.

Tips

• While the Golden Eggs you fire from your Egg Cannon can deal a lot of damage to the King Salmonid, they can also be shot at the weak point of most other Boss Salmonid to take them down in one shot. The bosses you cant defeat with a single Golden Egg are the Maws, Flyfish, and the Stinger.
• Always make sure to keep the amount of Boss Salmonid on the map during this wave close to or at zero so you can use those golden eggs to defeat the King Salmonid as without them, it will be very difficult to defeat it.
• Make sure to never tunnel vision on the King Salmonid too much, or else the other Boss Salmonid that are spawning may wipe your team.
• Keep turf control at all times! If you manage to keep turf control of the map then you will have a significantly easier time defeating the King Salmonid and the Boss Salmonid that will spawn.
• Make sure to revive your teammates if possible. You cant defeat the King Salmonid alone, so make sure to revive your teammates whenever it is safe to do so. We don't need you to die trying to save your teammates!

• Don't be afraid to use your Egg Cannon! Unlike the egg throw, the Egg Cannon doesn't require any ink to use, so make sure to hit the King Salmonid as much as possible!
