Changing name to Speedy Twintacle Octotrooper

In The Art of Splatoon 2, they are called "Speedy Twintacle Octotrooper". Should this page be changed to use that name?  GX_64 (talk)  06:37, 26 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

This feels like the best name for these enemies. "Rocket" isn't even the official term for these enemies. It's just something that Marina mentioned like, once in the octo expansion. My question is why they had "Deluxe" in their names before. Were they actually not named in Splatoon 2? OrderSquid38 New Squid.jpg OrderSquid38 [Talk] 06:45, 26 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I believe it should be renamed to be consistent with the Art of Splatoon 2 book, as well as an added citation confirming the usage of the name.
It's unfortunate that the other two Rocket Octarians don't have the "Speedy" name, because all of them have the same side-boosting functionality and I think it'd be easier for the reader if enemies with the "Rocket" prefix consistently have that side-boosting mechanic. That second point is exactly why I disagree with the renaming; if the other two are named in-game, this should be kept with them for consistency, right?
Additionally, I would say the NOA-localised name of "Rocket" is better, as the whole "Speedy" prefix is roughly a direct translation of the Japanese name. Adrmcr (talk) 12:36, 26 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
As a wiki, shouldn't we try to limit the amount of conjecture we put in our articles, though? Especially when an official Nintendo source gives us information contradictory to our speculation? I'm hoping to be as authoritative as possible with this, and am concerned whether not making the edit would somehow be misleading. Teajai (talk) 12:48, 26 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
As I mentioned on Discord, I would suggest moving the page to Speedy. Even though it breaks theming with the two Rocket pages, it is the only official name we have for it and that's that as far as I'm concerned! It's best not to have conjecture in our page names. I found additional evidence supporting the Rocket Twintacle Octotrooper name. In the Splatoon 2 game files, RomFS/Message/CommonMsg_USen.szs/OBJ_Enemy_NPC_NotInGame.msbt, there's a list of enemy and object names for the enemies you fight in story mode. The file has some other unique oddities, such as early boss names, early boss subtitles, and bridges for Splatoon 1 maps, but I think it might be enough to remove the Conjecture tab from the page. I think it also says that the "Octotrooper Bonbon" enemy on the Octotrooper page, which might be worth looking into and correcting. The file's documented on TCRF, https://tcrf.net/Splatoon_2/Unused_Text. I think it might be strong enough evidence to remove the Conjecture tab and keep the Rocket Twintacle Octotrooper name.
They actually cited us for the final enemy names; one of the early revisions of their page has the editor noting down that they could not find a source for our Octotrooper Bonbon name, hence why they gave the Rocket Octarians the "Deluxe" prefix.
