Museum d'Alfonsino is a multiplayer stage in Splatoon. It was leaked on the SplatNet stage schedule on November 12, 2015 before it was formally announced in the Nintendo Direct later that day.
Layout
Museum d'Alfonsino is a map that takes place in the courtyard of an art museum. It features five rotating displays which may be inked to reach a variety of high vantage points and low-lying areas.
Hazards
Lots of water surrounds the battlefield, creating an obstacle near the edges. This makes some jumps at certain points risky, as water can usually be found underneath.
Notable Locations
- Courtyard Entrances - These are the starting areas of the map and are hard for the opposing team to reach (In Turf War). In the center, there's a rotating display, that spins counter-clockwise without halting. Going right leads to the Center of the map, and going left leads to an alternate path to a Giant Display.
- Giant Displays - These tall, rotating displays are located on both sides of the map, before the center. Every so often, they rotate one-third counter-clockwise and stop for a while before repeating. Every inch of them is ink-able, allowing for players to climb up and reach grated platforms on the right side of its walls.
- The Center - Located in the middle of the map is the central display, following the rotation rules of the Giant Displays. There are two lower areas with statues, located next to water. These areas are where most of the battling between the two teams usually takes place.
Ranked Battle
In Splat Zones and Tower Control, the respawn point for both teams has been moved to the first rotating display.
Splat Zones
The Splat Zone is located in the Center of the map. Inking the rotating display does not count towards capturing the zone. Many platforms and one statue have been added near the Center, and the central display has been shortened to make jumping on it from both sides easier.
Tower Control
The tower in this mode, is located at the center of the map, replacing the central display. The goal is found right outside the enemy's Spawn, after going through the Giant Display. The wall sticking out on both Giant Displays have been removed, and many blocks and barriers have been added, including the platforms from Splat Zones. When the tower is occupied, it will first go straight and go around the outside of the Giant Display over water. It then turns left and heads for the goal.
Rainmaker
The Rainmaker here, starts on top of the shortened central display. The goal is located on the rotating display in the enemy team's spawn. The Giant Displays have been altered a bit: they have both had one section removed and they now rotate one-third counter clockwise, then one-third clockwise, never stopping with the removed side towards the middle. Several boxes have been added for extended ways of reaching the opposing team's base and a small section left of each team's spawn has been blocked off.
Tips
- Use the Giant Displays to your advantage for dodging attacks.
- Use bombs to quickly cover the walls of a Giant Display.
- Be cautious traversing as there is a striking lack of inkable walls in certain parts of the map.

Trivia
- The Alfonsino is a type of deepwater fish that inhabits temperate and tropical oceans.
- Museum d'Alfonsino is the only map to change the location of both teams' Spawn Point depending on the game mode.
- On the ground near the center of the stage is a bedazzled giant squid. It's more visible if you ink it.
- Because this stage is set in an art museum, a lot of famous paintings are parodied/referenced. Here are the known examples so far:
- One of the statues is an Inkling sporting the same pose as Auguste Rodin's famous sculpture, The Thinker.
- Another statue is an Inkling with a discus, referencing a known Greek sculpture, the Discus Thrower
- Near one of the rotating platforms are paintings of soup cans, a reference to famous artist Andy Warhol, who is famous for his paintings of Campbell's soup cans.
- There's an Inkling version of Sharaku's most famous piece, Otani Oniji III as Yakko Edobei.
- An Inkling version of Leonardo da Vinci's famous artwork, the Mona Lisa, can be seen near the center of the stage.
- There is a large statue of a Super Sea Snail near each team's base.
- The Squid Sisters' quote, “Ahhhh! I just love art!” | “Art schmart. I wish this was a science museum.” is a reference to the fifth North American Splatfest, for which the theme was "Which is more important? Art or science?"
