Purple Inkling team sporting different gear and weapons.
For the gear screen(NA)[a] or equipment screen(EU/OC)[b], see Equipment.

Gear is the combined form of headgear, clothing, and shoes that Inklings can wear.

Three Shops in Inkopolis Plaza sell a respective type of gear:

All gear has abilities that improve the wearer's performance in battle. Each piece of gear has a rarity, represented by one to three stars. These indicate the number of sub ability slots it comes with, which are unlocked by battling and can be re-rolled by Spyke. Gear also has a brand that can have an effect on which sub abilities are likely or unlikely to be assigned.

Experience Table

To unlock extra abilities on gear, a certain amount of experience must be earned while wearing that piece. The exact amounts are detailed in the table below:

Rarity Slot 1 Slot 2 Slot 3 Total
1,000 3,000* 5,000* 9,000
2,000 6,000 10,000* 18,000
3,000 9,000 15,000 27,000
*This slot must be purchased from Spyke for Super Sea Snails 22px or Cash 22px.
