The Rainmaker Shield is a protective bubble surrounding the Rainmaker. Players must attack the shield in order to pop it and reach the Rainmaker weapon. As the player attacks it, the Rainmaker Shield grows in size and changes to the player's ink color. After enough damage is dealt to the shield, it explodes and releases a blast of ink that is lethal to any member of the opposing color who is standing too close.
If a player carrying the Rainmaker falls out-of-bounds or into water, the Rainmaker Shield will always respawn in its original state in the center of the map.
Breaking the Shield
The Rainmaker Shield has 1000 HP, but many weapon types have a damage multiplier applied when they hit the Shield. The multiplier values are detailed in the tables below.
Roller-type weapons such as the File:S Weapon Splat Roller .png [[]] or the File:S Weapon Inkbrush .png [[]] cannot damage the shield by rolling towards it, so their ink-flicking attack must be used.

With Damage Up
Unlike against Inklings, weapons do not have a damage cap when hitting the Rainmaker Shield with Lua error in Module:Ability at line 29: attempt to concatenate local 'linkText' (a nil value). buffs. The Lua error in Module:Ability at line 29: attempt to concatenate local 'linkText' (a nil value). ability increases damage output against the Rainmaker Shield by 10%.
Touching the Shield
Touching the Shield repeatedly will harm the player. Being caught between the Shield and a wall as the Shield expands will instantly splat an Inkling.

Trivia
- The Rainmaker Shield behaves as a shield in Octo Valley which carries the Zapfish, but the shield doesn't respawn nor carries a Zapfish. In fact the Shield only respawns with the Current Inkling falls into Water or Out-Of-Bounds or gets splatted by an opposing Inkling, then the Shield will respawn.
