Vaults, also know as locks and lockboxes, are a mechanic in Octo Valley and Octo Canyon. Vaults typically contain launchpads to allow Agent 3 to progress. Each vault has a key that unlocks it nearby, usually hidden in a crate or Octarian.
Description
Vaults are large, cylindrical, stationary objects found in many Octo Valley missions. They are slightly larger than an Inkling and have a silver, metallic appearance. A golden lock in the center of each vault prevents Agent 3 from accessing the Vault's contents, and can only be opened with a key. Once a vault has been unlocked, it separates along three vertical, toothed seams and begins dissolving from its base to its top. This animation is accented by a shower of glowing bubbles that match Agent 3's current ink color.
