Main or "Fan Fic" Canon?

Do you think this "Side Order" DLC part of the main canon of the Splatoon world, or just a canonical "fan fic" of if Order won the final splatfest of Splatoon 2?

If you don't understand: Main Canon: Part of the story of Splatoon "Fan Fic" Canon/Side Canon: What canonically would have happened if something else happened.

I think it's canon. It looks like it has something to do with Team Order, maybe this is a scrapped idea if Team Order won; so it was then released as a DLC. Randomnamehere (talk) 19:44, 9 February 2023 (UTC)

Personally I don't think that should be taken as such extremely concrete information...that website is, as far as I can tell, the only source for that "confirmation", so it could easily be just be odd phrasing from a marketing guy rather than a clear indication of what the story line will be...I'd seen that sentence on the official website before you kept repeatedly trying to add it to the page, and had spent a good while trying to find any equivalent information from Japanese sources (which I'd consider a bit more reliable since things can be lost in translation/localization) and found nothing even mentioning the idea of it being "what would have happened" on the JP websites/social media, at least as far as I could find. It's still theoretically possible, I suppose, but right now the only evidence seems to only exist in English, and considering that things can get lost in translation even in the games themselves I hesitate to take a random marketing blurb as the definite truth when we have practically no other context... Yea. I've grown a tad after that time I commented. I think what the creator was trying to say was if we should treat Side Order as a fanon thing or canon thing. Brain "Coral"

I personally think it has something to do with Marina's Memories, due to the octoling looking (Kind of?) Similar to her, and the entire fact of that octoling looking... lost. Inkling in Characters section

I think the inclusion of a still containing a barely discernible Inkling character is not enough evidence to list them as a character confirmed to appear in the mode. The stills resemble concept art (as the Octoling's design is inconsistent between images), which may not make it to the final product. What do others think? I have to agree too. I added to the Inkling with (assumed through trailer footage) but a shadow is not really what you want to rely on in an argument wether there is one or not. Blackish-dark colored ink?

If you look closely in one of the elevator pics where the octoling is standing outside of the elevator, and the one with the window, you can see some blackish ink seeping out under the elevator door and through the window. Ig this should be mentioned in the article somewhere?

Pearl's out fit is a dress resembling Marie's but in a different colour and that octoling is more like resembling callie's outfit. Also why would she/he get ahold of it? and this is side order and probably has somthing to do with splatoon 2's final fest saying that chaos won and side order might be showing what would have happend if order won and they would not do side chaos because splatsville is called the city of chaos and 8 chose order so that is why 8 is shown here but it might be like agent 3 where there is also a new agent 3 maybe that is a new agent 8 Octogamingpro (talk) 08:28, 14 February 2023 (UTC)

Trivia section contents

A) Recently someone added a trivia point claiming the Octoling is "taller" than the player Octolings; I find this to be misleading as the character is wearing a new piece of shoes gear, which for all we know could make all Octolings that wear the boots appear taller, the same way the Neo Octoling Boots (S2) or Pearlescent Kicks (S2 and S3) work in-game. I'd like to remove the trivia point as it's completely unclear how much taller the character is, as well as whether or not their footwear contributes to their supposed taller height, but would appreciate others' input.

If in the end it's decided to keep the information, I think that fact should be added to the description section of the article rather than to trivia.

B) Would it be appropriate to note that the still images that appear briefly in the trailer strongly resemble mid-production concept art? The Octoling's inconsistent skintone from image to image compared to how they appear in-engine (in-game) is the biggest factor towards making me believe this is the case. i did a comparison and while this octoling does appear taller than the tallest possible height for the main playable octoling girl (wearing slamgerine slip ons, which are the tallest shoes in the game), the difference in their posture especially makes it too hard to tell for sure imo, so i think it would be best to remove it for now... Woah amazing comparison! While the model does appear a bit different, there's been quite a few cases where models and stage design was altered between Direct trailers and final releases, so I hesitate to consider this worthy of being noted on the page before the mode's release. The Spikes in One of the Images

Themes in the trailor

Through a lot of the photos, themes like elavators and a black substance are a common theme, do they deserve a mention in the article? -Xando (talk) 16:47, 5 April 2023 (UTC)

At this time there isn't enough information to be able to determine what the themes of the mode will be, as the plot is unknown. We cannot conclusively say the trailer suggests the mode will have themes of elevators (or what elevators may symbolize) simply because the teaser showed concept art of elevators; that is speculative. There isn't enough information to go off of. It's best if we wait for official confirmation and/or the official release itself before we draw any such conclusions.

None of the released campaign mode articles note those storylines' themes presently; I don't think it's something worth looking into noting on the wiki given its subjective and analytical nature.

If you would like to add elaboration regarding the assumed areas the images depict to the teaser description section that would be fine, but at this time we have almost no information on plot and themes. Yoshifan52 (talk) 17:49, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
