Color Pulse

I see "Color Pulse" being used a lot as the title for the Splatfest Plaza theme on YouTube, but I can't find any source. Can anyone confirm this? DJ Coco (talk) 12:45, 9 July 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The demo was datamined. They got all the songs in there, their titles included. Dekamekku (talk) 14:56, 9 July 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Can we please include their alternate Splatfest outfits? B ron 3000 (talk) 17:29, 5 August 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Can someone add or upload all their songs to the Inkipedia the same way as the other Splatoon1 songs? Destinithompson (talk) 2:01, 17 September 2017 (UTG)

I have all the alternate colors on my Twitter (@djparticle), for every region. I always make a point to take a picture of OTH at the beginning of every Splatfest. Sadly, I don't currently have time to add them all here myself (I won't until likely the weekend), but I welcome anyone else to farm my Twitter for the images if you want them here sooner  :) -DJParticle (talk) 01:31, 14 February 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Done! Good stuff! Since Twitter compresses the images (Even in the full-res versions, which I got), there is quite a bit of quality loss (especially with colorful images such as this).
Feel free to re-upload these with the raw versions:

They're on my Switch in raw form. Not sure how to get them off without posting them to a social media platform (which compresses) -DJParticle (talk) 14:40, 14 February 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The only other way I know (and the one I use myself) is to put a microSD card into the Switch, transfer the pictures I want onto it (in the switch Settings > Data menu), then using a card reader to get it onto a computer (I have a USB one, but most laptops and some desktops have an SD port). If not, no biggie, we can always update them later. -Inkrid (talk) 18:24, 14 February 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Their Ages

Since the game did acknowledge in July that 1 year had passed since Cake v Ice Cream/Rock v Pop, should we update the character ages (not just for OTH, but also for the Squid Sisters) to reflect this? -DJParticle (talk) 06:25, 24 September 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Uh, yeah! I guess so! I think we should

Mistranslation in Spanish (Spain) string

In the Names in other languages section, the Spanish phrase "¡no os andéis con medias tintas!" is mistranslated as "don't walk with inked socks!". This is a literal translation which does not convey the intended meaning — and assumes that medias here means socks when nothing about the context would indicate so. The saying "a medias tintas" can be translated very roughly to "half-inked", as in writing a document with a faulty fountain pen, thus "andar a medias tintas", if taken metaphorically (as often occurs within the Spanish language) denotes a hesitant, ambivalent, indecisive person. The message of Spain's Off the Hook is to live life fully and boldly, don't be wavering around.

Therefore, the translation I propose is "And you know... Don't be wavering around!" — perhaps with a translation note about the meaning of "medias tintas", similarly to the current note about "onda" in Latin American Spanish. Since I can't seem to edit the page (I registered solely for this), I hope someone sees this and does. Technoguyx (talk) 09:49, 7 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I always thought that translation was a little weird, so thanks for doing the research! The page can currently only be edited by autoconfirmed users (users who have stuck around for a few days and made at least five edits) to prevent potential vandalism, so I'll add this information in a minute! Thanks again, and welcome to the wiki! GloverMist (talk) 10:06, 7 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ur Noodles???

This probably means nothing, but has anyone else noticed that on Off the Hook's cover art, the title at the top resembles "URNOODLES"?𝕎𝕠𝕠𝕞𝕪𝔾𝕚𝕣𝕝𝟠𝟝 (talk) 22:10, 6 November 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yes! It totally does! Lofiguy (talk) 17:33, 16 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Off the hook DLC page

I dont think anyone has created a page for the Off the Hook DLC (checked in the list of "future" pages and it wasn't there), but i think we should create a page seeing as we know that there is going to be a DLC in the future. If anyone has created a page/will create a page for this then please let me know. Cruelty to Salmons (talk) 14:57, 21 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Not until we get a name for it and all. MissDelibirda (talk) 15:16, 21 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, if we had known that the octo expansion was going to be a thing, but didnt know what it was going to be called, i think that a page would have been created anyway. Plus, we can just title it "splatoon 3 dlc" or something and change it later. Cruelty to Salmons (talk) 13:25, 4 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
There is so little we know about it, so can we even make a page. Besnhasthefun (talk) 15:19, 21 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, we know:
the date it was announced, that its going to have something to do with off the hook, that its a paid dlc for splatoon 3, and probably some other stuff too. There are a whole lot of pages with less information than that. Cruelty to Salmons (talk) 13:28, 4 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I can't remember them announcing a release date. Do you have proof? Miss Delibirda (talk) 15:33, 4 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
To be clear, i mean the date they first announced that there was going to be a dlc, not the release date for the dlc. Cruelty to Salmons (talk) 15:40, 4 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I don't feel like the date the DLC was announced is all that notable. If it is, I think that date could simply be added to Splatoon 3#Post-launch updates for now (since most of those post-launch updates were announced during the same Nintendo Direct). But apart from that, there's very few specifics we know or can even assume about the DLC, and I think that giving it its own page with a tentative title would merely invite baseless speculation. Lyichir (talk) 19:45, 4 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I wasn't saying it was an important detail, it's just that announcement dates for content is on multiple similar pages. And while there are few details, the possibility of a dlc on the scale of the octo expansion far outweighs any possible downsides to creating the page.
Again, there are many pages with fewer information. Cruelty to Salmons (talk) 18:49, 10 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm just going to create the page Cruelty to Salmons (talk) 18:47, 13 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Are their ages (and heights) official?

As far as I'm aware, this page and their individual pages list Pearl and Marina's ages as 21 and 18 respectively, which is stated in their concept art. I have a little question about it: is concept art to be taken as confirmation? If so, then their listed heights are to be taken as official (and likely Shiver and Frye's ages too, which are also listed in their concept art as 24 and 22 respectively, conflicting with the fact that they went to school together). Have we got any confirmation of their ages in official media? Thank you for your answers in advance. Spleet (talk) 18:38, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Finally someone who also thinks that concept art is not always canon well anyway
Their ages are from their bios in The Art of Splatoon 2, their heights are from concept art, I remember a tweet which seemingly confirmed it but I can't remember what the tweet said so I can't review it. Olivia (talk) 15:48, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
As far as I can tell their models match up with these heights too. The ages and heights were together, and since they were written alongside Off the Hook's finalized designs I think it's safe to say they're canon values.
On the topic of Shiver and Frye, I don't understand how them being two years apart conflicts with them going to school together. Anemoia Anemoia Sig.png [Talk!] 15:52, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Where were their heights written alongside their ages? The only thing in the artbook where their heights is labeled as concept art Olivia (talk) 15:57, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The concept art says "Marina (18), 178cm" and "Pearl (21), 145cm" Anemoia Anemoia Sig.png [Talk!] 16:00, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
That age difference for Shiver and Frye is not necessarily outright wrong, but it is worth noting that this interview refers to them as having been in the "same class", which would be much less likely with an age difference of two years. Not impossible, but certainly enough to say that those ages have reason to be questioned. S3 Icon Headspace.png Driftin Soul [Talk!] 16:36, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Frye is simply a genius who skipped a class or two (I dunno if it's possible to be in the same class with a 1-year difference because of different birth months in Japan?) Anemoia Anemoia Sig.png [Talk!] 16:39, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yeah, that's what I meant with “going to school together”. It’s kind of odd that they can be in the same class while being two years apart. Spleet (talk) 19:04, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The models are pretty much why i doubt their heights are accurate, as Marina is stated to be 178 cm while her model looks shorter, at most 170 cm, in comparison to the player in Side Order (and she wears heels too). Pearl looks a bit taller than 145 cm, probs 150 cm, if we estimate that the player character in s3 is about 160 cm (Inklings were confirmed by Nogami to be 150 cm tall in s1, but they changed their proportions in s3, making them look taller). For ages, they’re completely believable imo in the case of marina and pearl, but i’m more doubtful about shiver and frye’s age gap since they were in the same class. Id’say it’s really up to user consensus here to decide whether concept art is canon or not. Spleet (talk) 19:10, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It should be noted that the models for OtH, minus the clothes in SO, are reused from Splatoon 2. Olivia (talk) 19:48, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ohh ok right, that’s why marina’s head looked gigantic lol (and their faces looked odd compared to the player and acht) Spleet (talk) 20:00, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, Marina's age at very least requires no citation, as it's backed up by the games themselves. And I quote:
・Age 16: Assigned to DJ Octavio's wasabi supply unit. Earned multiple commendations.
・Same year: Went AWOL after coming within audible range of the Calamari Inkantation sung by the New Squidbeak Splatoon.
That's as of Splatoon 1, we know the time passed between games with certainty, ergo Rina is no doubt at least 18 as of S2. Even if it weren't for that though, I think it's more than fair to believe that the ages in AoS2 (and really, any character ages from any artbooks/concept art) are canon unless there's reasonable evidence to the contrary. S3 Icon Headspace.png Driftin Soul [Talk!] 16:28, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Okay. Hear me out.
The problem with assuming that all concept art is canon unless there is evidence for the contrary is that the chance of such evidence appearing is-dare I say-zero. It is unfalsifiable, meaning that it provides no actual proof, the only way to dispove it is by proof to the contrary; the claims have to be refuted individualy rather than the underlying problem that there is no evidence that it is true. This is a good video on the topic: https://youtu.be/L9rkQJ91VOE?si=hIl4B9DKySS-7GM0
I would like to add that games go through development phases and concept art is part of the developmet. The devs aren't gonna feel the same way about something during development and keep stacking on more stuff. As with design, characterisation changes over time. The only way to know for sure what has changed and not changed is comparing the development material and the final product. Olivia (talk) 17:49, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
