Bluefin Depot is a multiplayer stage in Splatoon. It was made available on June 20th, 2015 at Template:UTC [1][2].

Layout

Bluefin Depot consists of 4 different levels, the two uppermost most of which can only be accessed by the enemy team by grate walkways. The lowest level is divided by a body of water and requires travesing the third level to switch parts.

Notable Locations

  • Lower Level- The lowest level of Bluefin Depot is most likely where most of the fighting between the two teams will take place. It consists of two platforms that are separated from each other by a small body of water that cannot be jumped over.
  • Upper Level- The level just above the lowest level of Bluefin Depot is where all traveling between both sides of the level below is made. Chargers cannot snipe too much from here, mainly because of the iron bridge running over the middle of the map.
  • Base- Each team's base is made up of a top level and a bottom level. The top level is where players respawn; it can only be reached via a grated walkway in the middle. The bottom level is where players can get to the different sides of the depot and can only be reached by a grated walkway on the opposing team's right.

Hazards

Water can be found all around Bluefin Depot. Players can easily fall in if they're not paying attention, especially if they are on a grated walkway.

Ranked Battle

Splat Zones

The Splatzone in Bluefin Depot can be found on the side that's closest to the ocean. Two ramps leading towards the Splatzone are located on the other side of the map. Walls have also been added on both sides of the map to help the each team attack the other team, and for mobility. Blocks have also been added to the bottom level of the bases prevent sniping from each base and to the Lower Level to even the ramp located on each side.

Tips

  • The elevated train tracks that cross over the middle of the map are a great place to throw Sprinklers to cover the Lower Level on either side of the map.
  • The water separating each side of the Lower Level is narrow enough so that players on one side can snipe or throw bombs at unsuspecting players across the way.
  • The stairs leading down from each team's spawn point are difficult to cover, making them a prime target for Inkstrikes or Sprinklers.
  • High walls keep players out of the Upper Level from below. Placing an Ink Mine at the top will keep out members of the opposing team. Throwing a bomb or Point Sensor up before ascending is therefore a good idea.
  • On each side of the Lower Level in the center are two thin perpendicular walls that form a plus sign when viewed from above. Use them as cover when performing an Inkstrike and ink and swim up them to ambush foes who expect you to maneuver around them.
