The Splat Charger returns for Splatoon 2 with a new design and the File:S2 Weapon Sting Ray .png [[]] instead of File:S Weapon Bomb Rush .png [[]]. The player can now charge up a shot, go into squid form, and for a brief period of time they can turn back into a kid and the charger shoots automatically. The player now lights up while charging a shot, and if the player is charging a shot, and goes into squid form, the player also glows.
“ | A long-range weapon suited for picking off distant foes. Hold to charge and then release it to fire. Enter squid form () while holding to store your charge for a bit. | ” |
Sheldon's Introduction
The Splat Charger is a charger-type weapon designed for long-range offense. Hold down to charge up ink, and then release the button to fire it out all at once, inking a long path in an instant! Sure, it's a bit unwieldy, but this baby can store its charge, allowing you to swim for a short while without losing your charge. The File:S2 Weapon Splat Bomb .png [[]]s and File:S2 Weapon Sting Ray .png [[]] that accompany the weapon complement the long-range nature of the charger. This set is a great starting point on your journey to charger mastery! |

The Splat Charger, like other Charger-type weapons, can be charged up to increase range and damage. The more it is charged, the farther the Ink will go. On top of that, a fully charged shot will splat an enemy in one hit if it lands. It also creates a thick line of ink, rather than a small blob like Shooters do. This weapon is the most basic form of Charger in Splatoon and comes in a set with the File:S Weapon Splat Bomb .png [[]] and File:S Weapon Bomb Rush .png [[]].
“ | Charges up before releasing a concentrated, high-powered burst with excellent range. Charging takes a while, so be careful not to open yourself up to attack! | ” |
— In-Game Description
|
“ | News flash! We’ve just confirmed that this weapon is called a Splat Charger. Apparently ink is pressurized in the tank and then fired off in powerful blasts that are super effective at hitting long-range targets. Sooo sweet! | ” |

Recommended Abilities
- Lua error in Module:Ability at line 29: attempt to concatenate local 'linkText' (a nil value).
- Ink Recovery Up serves the same purpose as Ink Saver- fully charged shots consume lots ink, and charger users can often run out when they least expect it. The Ink Recovery Up ability hastens the refill rate of ink. Once used up, the Splat Charger has to stay in ink for a substantial amount of time before having the ability to continue making shots. This ability enables players to have constant and more long term map presence and have both main and sub weapons frequently at hand.Tentatek gear has a 5x higher chance of rolling this ability.
- Lua error in Module:Ability at line 29: attempt to concatenate local 'linkText' (a nil value).
- Swim Speed Up makes mobility easier. Swim Speed Up will increase mobility in squid form to aid in quick escapes from enemies who get too close.
- Lua error in Module:Ability at line 29: attempt to concatenate local 'linkText' (a nil value).
- The Cold Blooded ability reduces the duration of tracking by Point Sensors, Haunt, and Echolocators by 75%. Cold Blooded allows players to be unpredictable in positioning, win sniper duels and prevent quick splats by enemy snipers. As snipers wait in ink until an enemy approaches, Cold Blooded is useful for removing Echolocators that show where a hiding/camping spot is.
