Trick vs. Treat is an upcoming Splatfest event in Splatoon 2. It will held for all regions from 19 October 2018 to 21 October 2018. It will be the first 48-hour Splatfest in Splatoon 2. Teaser posts for it were posted on official media on 3 October 2018, after the release of Version 4.1.0. It will be announced (in-game) on 5 October 2018. The results will be given on 22 October 2018.
Special Splatfest Features
In addition to the normal changes at Splatfest time (central stage appearing in Inkopolis Square, all stages shown at night time), there are several unique changes to this Splatfest, as part of the Halloween theme:
- The Splatfest will take place over the course of 48 hours instead of the normal 24 hours
- The in-game logo will show "Splatoween" instead of "Splatoon 2".
- Inkopolis Square will have additional glow-in-the-dark decorations in the shapes of manta rays, starfish, and glowing ooze.
- The various stages will have decorative glowing stickers, graffiti, and other unique decorations.
- Existing graffiti will be modified as well, usually by replacing the characters depicted with ghost, zombie or mummy versions of themselves.
- A special news article in the Nintendo Switch news will reward players with 4 unique pieces of headgear (similar to the distribution of the SWC Logo Tee), all of them glowing or lighting up in the dark:
- Kyonshi Hat (Reference to the Japanese name of Jiang Shi, or Chinese vampires)
- Li'l Devil Horns
- Hockey Mask (Reference to the killer Jason from the "Friday the 13th" franchise)
- Anglerfish Mask
- Pearl and Marina will dress up as eachother, including swapping color schemes.
- Various in-game characters such as Judd and Li'l Judd as well as jellyfish in the square will wear party hats or bedsheet ghost costumes.
