Power vs. Wisdom vs. Courage is an upcoming Splatfest event in Splatoon 3. It was announced on social networks on 14 April 2023. It is the first Splatfest in the Splatoon series to be themed around the The Legend of Zelda franchise.
Details
This Splatfest is a celebration of the upcoming installment of The Legend of Zelda, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which will launch roughly a week after the Splatfest on 12 May 2023. In the franchise, the sacred golden relic called the Triforce is the main driving force of several games' plots and appears frequently in symbolism aside from this. It is capable of granting any wish when all three segments are combined in balance: the Triforce of Power, held by Ganondorf; the Triforce of Wisdom, held by Princess Zelda; and the Triforce of Courage, held by the hero Link. Therefore, this Splatfest represents these three virtues.
The Tricolor Turf War stage for this Splatfest will be Scorch Gorge. Unlike previous modifications made to stages in order to function as a Tricolor stage, Scorch Gorge's layout instead takes on the shape of the Triforce. It is unclear how players will be divided into teams while on the map.

Shiver![]() “The Legend of Zelda presents: Which do you seek? A Triforce throwdown!” |
Big Man![]() “Ay! Ay? (Ooo! What are you all going to choose?)” |
Shiver![]() “Let's just see what we're working on with, OK? First up, power! A must-have for battle.” |
Frye![]() “Next, wisdom! Let it guide you along the path to victory.” |
Big Man![]() “Ay! Ay! (And last but not least, courage! To take the first step without fear!)” |
Big Man![]() “Ay. (Whoa. What if you could get all three? You could make a wish come true, right?)” |
Frye![]() “Sounds good to me. I'll take all three!” |
Shiver![]() “That's not how it works! Besides, I can make my own wishes come true. Hmph.” |
Shiver![]() “In fact, that's why I'm on Team Power. With power, I can do whatever I want.” |
Shiver![]() “Maybe the world isn't ready for an all-powerful Shiver...but too bad! Muahaha!” |
Big Man “Ay... (Oh...you're scaring me a little bit...)” |
Frye![]() “Well, I've got power and courage out the wazoo, but I could use more wisdom.” |
Shiver “You're so in touch with your strengths and weaknesses...and so confident. I'm jealous!” |
Frye![]() “Thanks! I mean, life is a series of choices, and I wanna make the right ones.” |
Frye![]() “Plus, it'd be cool to find my way to Eeltail Alley without getting lost. Wisdom can help!” |
Shiver “...You've heard of maps, right?” |
Big Man![]() “Ay! (Well, you can be super powerful and wise, but you still need courage to act!)” |
Big Man![]() “Ay! (Like, when you find a wall with a crack in it, you need courage to bomb it!)” |
Frye “What are you even talking about, Big Man?” |
Big Man![]() “Ay! (Ink wields no strength unless the appendage that splats it has courage!)” |
Notes: Allusion to the quote "A sword wields no strenght unless the hand that holds it has courage", said by the Hero's Shade in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. | ||
Shiver “What's wrong with him? Did he hit his head on something?” |
Shiver![]() “Anyway, this is such an easy choice that I'm sure it'll be a cinch. Power for the win!” |
Frye![]() “I'm telling you, power is useless unless you have the WISDOM to apply it correctly!” |
Big Man![]() “Ay! Ay! (Open your eyes! The key to victory is having the courage to push forward!)” |

Trivia
- The official art features silhouettes of Ganondorf and Link as they appear in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time while the one of Princess Zelda originates from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
- In addition, the symbols of the Triforce of Power, Wisdom, and Courage can be seen on the backs of the hands of Ganondorf, Zelda, and Link respectively and they are pictured alongside the marks of their respective goddesses, Din, Nayru, and Farore.
- Similarly, the Triforce designs seen on promotional keyrings and the reverse of the T-shirts feature ink splats covering up the two non-applicable Triforce pieces for each team.
- The wooden platforms, ladders and torches connected to the stone pillars seen in the background of Scorch Gorge may be a reference to Gerudo Canyon, a location in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
