あんこ vs カスタード vs ホイップ (Red Bean Paste vs. Custard vs. Whipped Cream) was a Splatfest event exclusive to the Japan region in Splatoon 3. It was the second Splatfest to take place during Chill Season 2023 and was announced on social networks on February 1 2024.[1]

The Americas/Oceania, Europe, and Hong Kong/South Korea regions' Friday vs. Saturday vs. Sunday Splatfest took place concurrently with this Splatfest.

Details

This was the second Splatfest in Splatoon 3 to differ by region: players who select the Japan region were able to participate in this Splatfest, whereas players who selected the Americas/Oceania, Europe, or Hong Kong/South Korea regions would instead participate in the Friday vs. Saturday vs. Sunday Splatfest as a combined group, held at the same time.

The teams represented three very popular dessert fillings in Japan:

  • Sweet red (adzuki) bean paste, also known as anko; the team logo is a matchamanjū filled with red bean paste.
  • Custard cream; the team logo is a custard cream puff.
  • Whipped cream (referred to with just the loanword "whip" in Japanese); the team logo is a layered cake with whipped cream filling and strawberries.

The Tricolor Turf War stage for this Splatfest was Bluefin Depot.

At the halfway point in the Splatfest, Deep Cut revealed the team currently with the most overall Clout, and congruently announced that the mode Tricolor Turf War would be open.

Trivia

  • Red bean paste was also the theme of a Splatoon 2 Splatfest, Tsubuan vs. Koshian.
  • Since this Splatfest is exclusive to Japan, the related dialogues for Anarchy Splatcast will not be available in languages other than Japanese.
    • When the system language is set to English or other European languages, the game starts normally in the selected language, but the Splatfest-specific dialogues are displayed in Japanese.
    • When the system language is set to Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, or Korean, the game is forced to reload into Japanese.
      • After getting the final results announcement and receiving Super Sea Snails, the game automatically reloads back into the system language.
  • This was the fifth Splatfest in Splatoon 3 to have a food theme, following Spicy vs. Sweet vs. Sour, Dark Chocolate vs. Milk Chocolate vs. White Chocolate, Vanilla vs. Strawberry vs. Mint Chip, and fellow Japan-exclusive Splatfest Kaiten-yaki vs. Ōban-yaki vs. Imagawa-yaki.
  • This is the first region-locked Splatfest in Splatoon 3 to not share ink colors with its counterpart regions' Splatfest.
  • The promotional artwork features text in tyrian purple for Red Bean Paste, rather than the green used on the theme artwork and the Splatfest Tees.
  • The Squid Sisters' orange and white color designs are similar to those of another Japanese Splatfest from Splatoon, Lemon Tea vs. Milk Tea.
