Autopatrol members are often seen firing off 10 edits in the span of a few seconds.

Members of the autopatrol group are experienced editors who have made large numbers of edits, which do not need to be individually patrolled.

Functions

Main article: User group rights

An autopatrolled user is not a staff member and does not get any extra tools or editing features.

  • Edits are automatically marked as patrolled.
  • There are no other functions, duties, or responsibilities.

While excellent editors, autopatrolled users are not necessarily better editors than non-autopatrolled users.

Becoming autopatrolled

All autoconfirmed users are eligible for autopatrol.

Typically, users with consistently good edits over a few months will be given autopatrol at the discretion of an administrator. Editors are promoted based on both their editing experience and volume of edits on a need-be basis, and depending on the current patrolling workload for staff.

Editors may not apply to become an autopatrolled user. However, those who feel that they are ready for a Staff position may apply for the patroller position. Being autopatrolled is highly desirable before applying for a staff position.

Autopatrol may be revoked if a user's activity or quality of edits decreases, or if the user has been in violation of policy.
