The Octo Shot is used by Octolings in the single-player campaign of Splatoon and Splatoon 2. It is also wielded by the Octolings in Octo Expansion. Agent 8 will also be granted access to the Octoshot during the Villi phase in Octo Expansion. The Octoshot seemingly has the same statistics as the regular Splattershot but with an Octarian color scheme.

The Octoshot's ink tank is a large cylindrical tank with a black screw cap, the ink tank rests on top of the main parts of the gun with a thick, plastic, black band wrapped around it, connecting the ink tank to the gun. From the top of the screw cap, a large wide tube bends in a U-turn fashion connecting the ink to the barrel of the Octoshot. Which resembles a pure black and miniature version of the ink tank complete with a black screw cap. Below the barrel is a large generic shaped handle with a small trigger that the player holds the gun within one hand. Connecting on the remaining side of the barrel is a grip which the player uses their other hand to grasp when firing. The grip is a silver 3D semi-circle with a black 3D-semi circle coating the outside complete with finger holds for grip. Connecting to the forward-facing side of the grip is a funnel-shaped silver nozzle which fires the powerful ink shots. The generic appearance and Octoshot thumbnails portray the ink color to be a dark purple resembling Callie's shade of ink.

The Octoshot is used in the Octo Expansion through all phases of the unnamed tower to reach the surface of the world starting from the Villi phase with the exception of the Diaphragm phase which utilizes the Inkjet. The Octoshot is used within the boss fight against semi-sanitized Agent 3 and is furthermore used to destroy all of Marina's hyperbombs during the final boss against the NIL'S Statue and Commander Tartar.

In Splatoon the Octoshot Replica is received for multiplayer battles once talking to Judd at Level 40.

Splatoon

In Splatoon, this weapon is called Octoshot and is the only weapon used by Octolings in Octo Valley.

Octoshot Replica

Main article: Octoshot Replica

The Octoshot Replica is a reward from Judd for reaching Level 40. It is a shooter-type main weapon and is visually identical to the Octoshot. Despite its unique appearance, it is simply a reskin of the Tentatek Splattershot, sharing the same stats and loadout, with Suction Bombs as its sub weapon and the Inkzooka as its special weapon.

Splatoon 2

In Splatoon 2, Octolings use a few different weapons, all of them being red-colored versions of the Hero weapons, such as the Hero Dualies or the Hero Blaster. However, the weapon representing the Shooter class is not a red Hero Shot, but rather the Octo Shot.

Octo Expanion

In Octo Expansion, the Sanitized Octolings use even more red variants of the Hero weapons (such as the Hero Brella and the Herobrush), and continue to use the Octo Shot as the shooter-class weapon. Elite Octolings with this weapon use the Inkjet as their special.

The Escape

The Octoshot is found by Agent 8 during the Villi Phase of the underground escape, and is used from that point until the end of the escape sequence (It is unused during most of the Diaphragm Phase where Agent 8 uses an infinite Inkjet). The Octoshot is used within the boss fight against mind-controlled Agent 3 and is furthermore used to activate Marina's hyperbombs during the final boss against the NILS Statue and Commander Tartar. It is also the weapon used in the bonus boss fight against Inner Agent 3.

Octo Shot Replica

Main article: Octo Shot Replica

Upon completion of the Octo Expansion main story, the Octo Shot Replica is available for online battles. It is identical in appearance to the Octo Shot, and in stats and loadout to the Tentatek Splattershot. Notably, its sub weapon ( Splat Bomb) and special weapon ( Inkjet) are identical to those collected during The Escape (Villi and Diaphragm phases, respectively), implying that the set was "built" by Agent 8 during that time (and just happens to match the Tentatek Splattershot set).

Trivia

 • It is the only weapon in the game that cannot be used in any way by the player in Splatoon. Octo Expansion however, lets Agent 8 use it.
 • Despite the Octarians only being seen using Splat bombs, the fact the replica has Suction Bombs suggests that the Octoshot also has switchable sub weapons like the Hero Shot.
 • The Octoshot bears a resemblance to the real-life IMI Uzi submachine gun.
