The Burden of Floof are a pair of shoes in the Splatoon series.

They are a 1-star item produced by SquidForce and come with a random primary ability generated when they are received. They are only available from Wandercrust. They cannot be ordered from another player.

This item is the reward for completing Journey 5 in Wandercrust.

Abilities

The Burden of Floof comes with Ink Saver (Main) as the primary ability. As a 1-star item, the Burden of Floof comes with two additional slots for secondary abilities. The star level may be increased with Super Sea Snails for 1 (first), 1 (second), 5 (third), 10 (fourth), or 20 (fifth) Super Sea Snails per star, or by purchasing additional copies of it from Crush Station for 10,000 (first), 30,000 (second), 50,000 (third), 100,000 (fourth), or 200,000 (fifth) Cash per star. Increasing the star level to 2 stars will add another secondary ability slot for a total of three slots. Increasing the star level beyond 2 stars will increase the gear experience gained by a cumulative 3.333…% up to 10% additional experience at 5-star level. Since it is made by the SquidForce gear brand, it has a higher chance of rolling Ink Resistance Up and a lower chance of rolling Ink Saver (Main) to fill its secondary ability slot.

The Burden of Floof is one of three shoes produced by SquidForce, the others being the Fry Tops and the Mecha Legs - LBS.

Etymology

Burden of Floof is a pun on "burden of proof", a legal term establishing which party in a dispute is presumed to be correct and which must prove their case, and "floof", a humorous deliberate modification of "fluff" often applied in regards to fur or furry animals. Like the Frivolous Paw Suit and Judicial Hearing, the legal pun in the gear's name likely alludes to Judd's role as the "judge" of matches.
