The Force ReBoots were first revealed in the announcement trailer for Splatoon 3 on 17 February 2021. Their name was revealed in the Splatoon 3 Direct.

This piece of gear was available in the Splatoon 3 Splatfest World Premiere.

Along with the Cephalo Pods and Tri-Shred Tee, the Force ReBoots are part of the starting outfit for new players.

Abilities

The Force ReBoots come with Special Saver as the primary ability when purchased from shop or ordered from Murch. As a 1-star item, the Force ReBoots come with two additional slots for secondary abilities. The star level may be increased with a Super Sea Snail, or by purchasing additional copies of them from Crush Station for 10,000 (first), 30,000 (second), 50,000 (third), 100,000 (fourth), or 200,000 (fifth) Cash per star. Increasing the star level to 1 or 2 stars will also add another secondary ability slot to the Force ReBoots. Increasing the star level beyond 2 stars will increase the gear experience gained by the Force ReBoots by a cumulative 3.333...% up to 10% additional experience at five-star level. Since they are made by the Takoroka brand, they have a higher chance of rolling Special Charge Up and a lower chance of rolling Special Power Up to fill their secondary ability slot.

Etymology

Force ReBoot is a play on the term "forced reboot" or "hard reset", a term for deleting all data stored on technological devices. This is hinted at in the gear item's name in Japanese.
