The New Year's Glasses DX is headgear in the Splatoon series.

It is a 3-star item produced by SquidForce and comes with the primary ability Special Charge Up. It can be obtained by visiting the FrostyFest news article on the Nintendo Switch News application. It cannot be ordered from another player.

Appearance

The New Year's Glasses DX are a pair of purple, square-shaped glasses with thick rims. On the frames is written in flashing neon green the year 2019 in Inkling language . While they appear to not have lenses, as they do not seem to reflect light in an obvious manner, they do have them.

How to obtain

  1. Open the Nintendo Switch News application and select the article about Splatoween.
    • The article is titled Free download! Celebrate FrostyFest with this wintry in-game gear.
    • If the article is not visible, subscribe to Squid Research Lab Report (NA) or Squid Research Lab Bulletin (EU) and allow time for the news application to update with Splatoon-related news.
  2. Select the "Play Splatoon 2" button located at the bottom of the article to start Splatoon 2.
  3. Open the box that appears in the middle of Inkopolis Square.

Abilities

The New Year's Glasses DX comes with Special Charge Up as the primary ability. As a 3-star item, the New Year's Glasses DX comes with three additional slots for secondary abilities. Since it is made by the SquidForce gear brand, it has a higher chance of rolling Ink Resistance Up and a lower chance of rolling Ink Saver (Main) to fill its secondary ability slots.
