Classic Straw Boater

The Classic Straw Boater is headgear in the Splatoon series.

In Splatoon, it is a 2-star item produced by Skalop and comes with the primary ability Special Duration Up. It can be purchased from Cooler Heads for 1,500.

In Splatoon 2, it is a 2-star item produced by Skalop and comes with the primary ability Special Power Up. It can be purchased from Headspace for 1,500 or from SplatNet 2 Gear Shop for 3,000.

In Splatoon 3, it is a 1-star item produced by Skalop and comes with the primary ability Special Power Up. It can be obtained through leveling up the Drizzle Season 2022 catalog to level 69, or it can be purchased from Naut Couture for 1,500 from SplatNet 3 Shop for 3,000.

It can also be obtained through leveling up the Drizzle Season 2023 Catalog to level 84 as part of the Annaki Bracelet Tee Outfit.

Appearance

The Classic Straw Boater is a flat-brimmed, flat-topped straw hat in a very dark gray. Its band changes color to match that of the wearer's ink and has a polka dot pattern in a slightly lighter color. On the left side of the band is a small bow, and on the right is a tiny Skalop logo. When worn by a female the hat is at a slight angle, but on a male it is worn straight.

Splatoon

The Classic Straw Boater debuted in Splatoon in version 2.3.0.

Abilities

The Classic Straw Boater comes with Special Duration Up as the primary ability. As a 2-star item, the Classic Straw Boater comes with two additional slots for secondary abilities, which may be increased to a maximum of three slots with a Super Sea Snail or 30,000 cash for each slot. Since it is made by the Skalop gear brand, it has a higher chance of rolling Quick Respawn and a lower chance of rolling Special Saver to fill its secondary ability slots.

Splatoon 2

The Classic Straw Boater returns in Splatoon 2 in version 2.0.0.

When purchased from SplatNet 2, it comes with any other primary ability normally available to Headgear. As a 2-star item, the Classic Straw Boater comes with two additional slots for secondary abilities, which may be increased to a maximum of three slots with a Super Sea Snail for each slot. Since it is made by the Skalop gear brand, it has a higher chance of rolling Quick Respawn and a lower chance of rolling Special Saver to fill its secondary ability slots.

Splatoon 3

The Classic Straw Boater returns in Splatoon 3 in Drizzle Season 2022 in version 1.1.0.

Abilities

The Classic Straw Boater comes with Special Power Up as the primary ability when purchased from a shop or ordered from Murch. When purchased from SplatNet 3, it comes with any other primary ability normally available to Headgear. As a 1-star item, the Classic Straw Boater comes with two additional slots for secondary abilities. The star level may be increased with Super Sea Snails for 1 (first), 1 (second), 5 (third), 10 (fourth), or 20 (fifth) Super Sea Snails per star, or by purchasing additional copies of it from Naut Couture for 10,000 (first), 30,000 (second), 50,000 (third), 100,000 (fourth), or 200,000 (fifth) Cash per star. Increasing the star level to 2 stars will add another secondary ability slot for a total of three slots. Increasing the star level beyond 2 stars will increase the gear experience gained by a cumulative 3.333…% up to 10% additional experience at 5-star level. Since it is made by the Skalop gear brand, it has a higher chance of rolling Quick Respawn and a lower chance of rolling Special Saver to fill its secondary ability slot.
