Cap of Legend
The Cap of Legend, known in Splatoon as the Legendary Cap, is headgear in the Splatoon series.
In Splatoon, it is a 3-star item produced by Cuttlegear and comes with the primary ability Damage Up. It is only available as a reward from Judd for reaching Level 50. It cannot be ordered through Spyke.
In Splatoon 2, it is a 3-star item produced by Grizzco and comes with a random primary ability generated when it is received. It is only available as a reward from Salmon Run as the monthly gear or in a Pink Capsule. It cannot be ordered through Murch.
The Cap of Legend is modelled after Cap'n Cuttlefish's signature peaked cap, with the main difference being that it changes color to match that of the wearer's Ink. It is made of somewhat worn dark fabric with a lighter patch sewn onto the top and a dark-colored visor, which, along with the band, is lined with a dull gold. The insignia is the Cuttlegear logo in the same dull gold on a dark blue circular shape. In Splatoon, when worn by a male Inkling, the cap has a hole torn in the back, allowing the tentacle topknot to be visible. It also appears to change its color on its thumbnail based on if the user has filled all 3 slots.
The Legendary Cap comes with Damage Up as the primary ability. As a 3-star item, the Legendary Cap comes with three additional slots for secondary abilities. Since it is made by the Cuttlegear brand, it has equal chances to roll any secondary ability.
The Cap of Legend comes with a random primary ability that can also appear as secondary abilities, which prevents the wearer from having Comeback, Last-Ditch Effort, Opening Gambit, or Tenacity as they are exclusive to Headgear and cannot appear as secondary abilities. This primary ability is assigned randomly when the item is received. As a 3-star item, the Cap of Legend comes with three additional slots for secondary abilities. Since it is made by the Grizzco brand, it has equal chances to roll any secondary ability.
- The Zapfish dolls wear the Legendary Cap, whereas their real counterparts don't.
- The Cap of Legend is the first piece of gear from Splatoon to be made by a different brand in Splatoon 2, as well as have a different name.
- This might be a result of the Cap of Legend being a forgery, as it shares this trait across all languages.
