Tuna Mayonnaise Onigiri vs. Red Salmon Onigiri was a Splatfest event in Splatoon. It was held for Japan only. It was announced on 15 April 2016. The results were given on 24 April 2016.
Onigiri is a traditional Japanese snack of a hand-sized rice ball wrapped in nori and filled with different ingredients. The event was held in cooperation with 7-Eleven.
An estimated 790,000 players participated in this Splatfest, which had set a new record at the time. With around 1.49 million units sold in Japan, this meant that over half of the game's userbase had participated.[1]
