Octo Valley is a song.
Description
Octo Valley is an ambient electronic track featuring an electronic melody and rapid drums, heard in Splatoon. Variations are heard in every Octo Valley Area, but the one heard in Area 5 is the one also heard in Squid Beatz, implying that version to be the original. Compared to the other Area versions, the Area 5 version has a lower pitch, is more distorted, more rapid and intense, and has a different, quicker drum track, similar to drum and bass. Its role was replaced by Octo Canyon in Splatoon 2.
Other versions
Octo Valley (Area 1)
A very stripped-back version, removing the main melody line and drum tracks, and overall has a higher pitch, is clearer, less rapid, and more easy-going. It is heard in Area 1.
Octo Valley (Area 2)
This version is mostly the same as "Area 1", but it adds a buzzing sound in the background. It is heard in Area 2.
Octo Valley (Area 3)
This version is mostly the same as "Area 2", but it adds the main melody line. It is heard in Area 3.
Octo Valley (Area 4)
This version is mostly the same as "Area 3", but the buzzing sound is replaced by the drum track, although it is simplified and slower compared to the original. It is heard in Area 4.
Octo Valley (Splatune)
In Splatune, a medley of all the versions is included instead. The "Area 1" version is played until 0:47, when it switches to "Area 2". At 1:33 it switches to "Area 3" and at 2:18, it switches to "Area 4". It then switches for the final time to the full, regular version at 3:04.
Etymology
This track is named after the area it plays in.
