Drop Roller is an ability in Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3. The ability is exclusive to shoes and cannot be rolled as a sub ability.
Drop Roller allows the player to roll after performing a Super Jump or returning to Inkjet's starting point by tilting in the desired direction. The roll is similar to the one provided by the dualie-type weapons, albeit much further and there is no immobility afterwards. After a drop roll, the user will get 10 AP of Run Speed Up, Swim Speed Up, and Ink Resistance Up for about three seconds.
Tactics
This ability is useful for surviving a super jump or a return from an Inkjet in a dangerous location. When a player Super Jumps or uses Inkjet, a marker is normally visible to show their landing location. Opponents may wait near the marker to try and splat the player. Drop Roller allows the player to get out of the way, to dodge enemy's shots and possibly return fire. Players with the dualie-type weapons can roll without the need of the Drop Roller ability, making it less beneficial for them.
