Haunt is an ability in Splatoon and Splatoon 2.
Haunt helps the user track the opponent that defeated them. Haunt also gives the user certain abilities while certain conditions are met.
Splatoon
Mechanics
When the user is splatted, the opponent that caused that splat (if any) is marked with a Point Sensor marker which lasts for about 9 seconds (default) (about 4.5 seconds with Cold-Blooded).
While the user is marked by a 'Point Sensor marker' (includes Point Sensor, Echolocator, and Haunt), a certain amount of Damage Up, Defense Up, and Run Speed Up is given to the user.
Tactics
Haunt is useful for players who usually flank; and for back liners, since if they are splatted, their team is more likely to notice that an enemy may be coming up from behind.

Mechanics
Haunt shows the location of the opponent (via a white silhouette that can be seen through opaque objects) that splatted the player; only to the user, and only while certain distance from that opponent ( Bomb Defense Up DX helps increase this distance), and only while that opponent is not submerged in ink; until that opponent Respawns. When the user splats a tracked opponent they get the effects of Respawn Punisher.
