Inkstrike Shuffle is a song performed by Turquoise October.
Description
Inkstrike Shuffle, like many Turquoise October songs, is an electronic song, featuring many chiptune influences, while it also has elements of industrial music. It features various filtered vocals, likely Octarian, and effects. It plays during any level in Splatoon that features an Octostriker trying to attack Agent 3 with Inkstrikes. It can also be heard in Squid Beatz.
Other versions
Inkstrike Shuffle (Unnoticed)
This version removes the repeating vocals and drum track for a less intense version of the original. It plays whenever the player is submerged in ink and the Octostriker cannot see them. In the game's files, this is the original version, and when the player is sighted, an additional track is played concurrently containing the missing features to bring it back to the main version. It is possible to extract the isolated track from the game.[1]
Inkstrike Shuffle (Final checkpoint)
This is a distorted and more frantic version of the song with a higher pitch and greater emphasis on sound effects. It also has a longer intro compared to the original. This version plays once the player uses the launchpad at the end of each level to reach the UFO at the end and defeat the Octostriker.
Inkstrike Shuffle (Splatune)
In Splatune, the song loops differently to how it is in the game. As it loops over, only one sound track plays for a part, and that section is not heard in any other version.
Inkstrike Shuffle (Kettle)
This is a loop of the Unnoticed version's first few seconds, but muffled and echoey making it sound like it's being played from a distance. It plays when the camera is near a kettle containing a level with the main track.
Etymology
The track title directly refers to this song's usage in levels that heavily feature Inkstrikes. 'Shuffle' refers the quick movements required to dodge these attacks, and can also be seen as a form of dance. Inkstrike Shuffle uses a shuffle beat, as well.
