Octarian Retro

The Octarian Retro is a piece of clothing in Splatoon 2.

It is a 2-star item produced by Cuttlegear and comes with the primary ability Respawn Punisher. It can be purchased from Ye Olde Cloth Shoppe for  5,000 or from SplatNet 2 Gear Shop for  10,000.

Appearance

The Octarian Retro is a dull, light blue, pullover sweatshirt. On the front is a simple black illustration of an Octarian tied up in rope, with the Inkling text below it, which is also black. On the back of the shirt is more black Inkling text, with the Cuttlegear logo at the bottom.

Abilities

The Octarian Retro comes with Respawn Punisher as the primary ability when purchased from a shop or ordered from Murch, which, being exclusive to the main slot of Clothing, prevents the wearer from also having Ability Doubler, Haunt, Ninja Squid, or Thermal Ink. When purchased from SplatNet 2, it comes with any other primary ability normally available to Clothing (with the exception of Ability Doubler). As a 2-star item, the Octarian Retro comes with two additional slots for secondary abilities, which may be increased to a maximum of three slots with a Super Sea Snail for each slot. Since it is made by the Cuttlegear gear brand, it has equal chances to roll any secondary ability.

Trivia

• This item, along with the Black Cuttlegear LS, Octo Tee and Red Cuttlegear LS, were the first Cuttlegear gear items to be made available in shops.
• The tied up Octarian shown on the front was depicted in the Mellow Squid 4-Panel Comics of The Art of Splatoon, where the main character Aspara and her brother found him pretending to be a factory owner.
  • The Retro Sweat's design was also depicted in the same manga.
