White Inky Rider

The White Inky Rider is a piece of clothing in the Splatoon series.

In Splatoon, it is a 3-star item produced by Rockenberg and comes with the primary ability Special Duration Up. It can be purchased from Jelly Fresh for 11,800.

In Splatoon 2, it is a 3-star item produced by Rockenberg and comes with the primary ability Special Power Up. It can be purchased from Ye Olde Cloth Shoppe for 12,800 or from SplatNet 2 Gear Shop for 19,200.

In Splatoon 3, it is a 2-star item produced by Rockenberg and comes with the primary ability Special Power Up. It can be purchased from Man-o'-Wardrobe for 12,800 or from SplatNet 3 Shop for 19,200.

Appearance

The White Inky Rider is a white leather jacket. It has a wide, pointed collar with three shiny metal studs on each side and an off-center zipper. Just below the collar are three pins: an orange one with a simplified Rockenberg logo in black; a pink one with two arrows, black and white; and a blue one with some purple symbols. Around the wearer's waist is a thick belt of the same material as the jacket, with a buckle in the shape of a stylized squid. The sleeves have zippers that extend to the wearer's elbow and the collar of a black shirt can be seen peeking out from under the jacket. On the back of the jacket is another stylized squid shape made using the same metal studs as those on the collar. Below the squid shape is a row of four slightly larger studs.

Splatoon

The White Inky Rider debuted in Splatoon's version 2.0.0.

Abilities

The White Inky Rider comes with Special Duration Up as the primary ability. As a 3-star item, the White Inky Rider comes with three additional slots for secondary abilities. Since it is made by the Rockenberg gear brand, it has a higher chance of rolling Run Speed Up and a lower chance of rolling Swim Speed Up to fill its secondary ability slots.

Splatoon 2

The White Inky Rider returns in Splatoon 2 at release.

Splatoon 3

The White Inky Rider returns in Splatoon 3's Fresh Season 2023 in version 3.0.0.

The White Inky Rider comes with Special Power Up as the primary ability when purchased from a shop or ordered from Murch. When purchased from SplatNet 3, it comes with any other primary ability normally available to Clothing (with the exception of Ability Doubler). As a 2-star item, the White Inky Rider comes with three additional slots for secondary abilities. The star level may be increased with Super Sea Snails for 1 (first), 1 (second), 5 (third), 10 (fourth), or 20 (fifth) Super Sea Snails per star, or by purchasing additional copies of it from Man-o'-Wardrobe for 10,000 (first), 30,000 (second), 50,000 (third), 100,000 (fourth), or 200,000 (fifth) Cash per star. Increasing the star level beyond 2 stars will increase the gear experience gained by a cumulative 3.333…% up to 10% additional experience at 5-star level. Since it is made by the Rockenberg gear brand, it has a higher chance of rolling Run Speed Up and a lower chance of rolling Swim Speed Up to fill its secondary ability slots.

Trivia

The White Inky Rider is the most expensive piece of gear with Special Duration Up in Splatoon. It is tied with the Dark Bomber Jacket for most expensive gear with Special Power Up in Splatoon 2.
After changes were done in Splatoon 2, the White Inky Rider is the most expensive Rockenberg gear.
The name "Inky Rider" is likely a reference to the leather jacket famously worn by Peter Fonda in the 1969 film Easy Rider.
