The turnstyle is a mechanic in the Octo Expansion. A similar mechanic also exists in Return of the Mammalians.
Octo Expansion
In the Octo Expansion, the turnstyle is a form of gate which allows one applicant to pass at a time. It appears at the starting areas of stations, which are called station platforms. Each of these areas also contains an equipper. Turnstyles can be passed through to access the level, but only allow for one-way travel. To pass through a turnstyle, the applicant must pay the test fee of CQ Points with the CQ-80 device.
The turnstyle has a pair of swing gates. It resembles real-life ticket barriers used in some metro systems.
Splatoon 3
English translations of these names are unofficial.
Note: "Clean room" and "clean room gate" has only been referred to by name in the Japanese release of The Art of Splatoon 3.
In Return of the Mammalians of Splatoon 3, missions in Alterna have a starting area called a clean room,[1] in which a clean room gate[2] and an equipper are present. To start a mission, the player has to pass through the clean room gate. Some of the gates do not require a fee, while others require the player to pay a certain amount of Power Eggs to pass through.
The clean room gate consists of a pair of glass doors with decontamination equipments in front which blow streams of air towards the player when activated, resembling air showers in real life.
The following songs play in the clean rooms for different missions:
- Alterna Shimin Program M-01: Standard Course (Asagiri no Kaigansen) for gold kettle missions
- Alterna Shimin Program M-02: Challenge Course (Yūgure no Ofushoa) for silver kettle missions
- Alterna Shimin Program M-??: mY dEAR for 0000 After Alterna
