The mechanic is the player character of Splatoon Raiders.

Appearance

The first trailer[1] depicts the mechanic as a feminine Inkling with tanned skin, red eyes, thick eyebrows, and a hairstyle similar to Splatoon 3's Bed Head style, with an added ponytail bound with a striped orange-and-white cord attached to what appears to be a grappling hook. In addition, their cheeks are covered with freckles. They wear a white crop top, orange worker pants and brown workboots. Their ink tank and weapon (a shooter resembling the Splattershot) appear to have been assembled together from various scraps or refuse; for instance, the weapon's ink reservoir is a soda bottle and its muzzle a plastic funnel, and the ink tank appears to incorporate parts of a portable stove and a saucepan.
