To Do
- Consider recording all splatfest dance animations & general player npc animations and compiling them on the wiki. this is probably only possible for splatoon 2 with hacking. we still have time for doing it legit with s3 though !
Video advertisements and graphics [x]
Format
- Merge stage sections with hub sections, making a single table with a location column
- While this will lead to a lot of repetition of "Lobby/Hub" for Splatoon 3, a lot of advertisements found in Splatoon 2's stages can also be found in the hub. Having separate tables for hub ads & stage ads doesn't seem like it'll work for Splatoon 2, and possibly won't work for Splatoon 3 in the future. Regardless, this should be done for consistency.
- Rework/fix tables
- Currently, the tables don't look great on mobile. This is because the column widths are percentages as the default widths make the description as wide as possible and the outer columns very thin. This should be fixed.
Content
- Add Splatoon 1 ads/graphics
- Note: Will have to be recorded in-game as converting them to video using their frames is much more difficult than with Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3.
- Add Splatoon 2 ads/graphics
- Add 'First seen' information to Splatoon 2 tables
- This will be tricky, but you may find information in the trivia sections of some articles, as well as in the version pages
Things to consider
- Renaming the page
- 'Video advertisements and graphics' is a bit of a mouthful and is somewhat vague. Under this definition, the animations that appear on Splatoon 3's lobby tower could count, alongside the videos that play on the Squid Sisters' Splatfest trucks. The 'graphics' part was added due to non-advertising videos being included (the animations above the lobby entrance in S2, and now fest animations) but maybe "animation" would be better? but "video animation" doesn't sound great. Something like "Video advertisements and animations"? "In-game commercials and animations"? First one is basically just as vague, and think I prefer 'advertisement' over commercial, but that may just be me. Anyway, I'm still thinking about it.
Incomplete sources
This is mostly useless so I'm probably never going to go back and do this again, but if you search "Source=ingame"
or "Source=in game"
on here you will find over 150 files with like "in-game screenshot" or "in-game file" as their source. im guessing these all come from new users, misinformed users or before the file template was a thing. The plan is to stick a {{Incomplete Source}}
on all of them, then ask the uploaders in question what their source was where thats sensible (e.g. a screenshot from 2022 at the latest and uploaded by an active user). My eyes hurt from staring at a computer all day though so I Will Not Be Doing That

Promotional characters, Hub NPCs and Miis
The promotional player characters of Splatoon (2015) [1], as well as many hub NPCs across the series, seem to be named after Miis. While these are sort of documented on the FANDOM wiki, they arent documented on MiiWiki. The FANDOM wiki has good comments but it's not good for sourcing (and MiiWiki is a NIWA partner so we NEED to use that), so in order for me to talk about the Miis the Splatoon promotional characters are named after, I need to make the pages for these Miis (at least Kaori and John cmonnnn). I don't have a Wii U so it will be a bit hard to document the important ones (Kaori, John, Rui.. they are all from Wii Sports Club on the Wii U) & I have a Terrible way with words but I will figure something out.
The ones needed:

Kaori | ☐ |
John | ☐ |

Yuriko | ☐ |

Hotlantis signature trivia
I need to wake up in 3 hours so I can't finish this rn. Additional information should be added regarding signatures and their suspected owners (within reason). I am not sure how to format it yet. Also I should probably reupload these images as texture crops... you gotta wait for that though, sorry.
Signature | Character | Reasoning |
---|---|---|
Mashup |
| |
Quinn |
| |
Ichiya |
| |
Murasaki |
| |
no image........ just pretend | Yoko |
|
no image........ just pretend | Kitamura |
|
no image........ just pretend | Maya |
|
Current trivia point
- The signatures on the exterior of Hotlantis appear to belong to several in-universe musicians from Splatoon and Splatoon 2. Various signatures have text that resembles a combination of English and Japanese writing (such as a signature that resembles "Mやや" likely being Maya from Ink Theory). A handful of signatures additionally feature the physical characteristics of musicians, such as a signature featuring a drawing of Murasaki's face.
- The front window appears to bear signatures from the Squid Sisters and Off the Hook. Callie and Marie's signatures from Splatoon 2 can be seen on the central panel, and on the left is a large "ひめ" signature and a smaller "eだ" above and to its left, likely Pearl and Marina respectively.
Updated trivia point / appearance section / whatever
Promotional Characters in the Splatoon series intro desc
Promotional characters refer to the characters used in promotional material that are meant to stand in for a player. Typically, these are the Inklings and Octolings present on the box art, amiibo and crossovers. [talk about how there is a main duo and a main character in every game + oe bc idk how to do that right now. also talk about how theres a main 8 characters (oe messes with things here but we'll figure it out)] [talk about inconsistency and how they are not actual characters like the idols but are stand ins for players and can act as a representation of their respective games].

NO 3 NAAN NAN METG NO 4 NO 5 NO 6 NO 7 NO 8 NO 9 NO 0 NO 12 NO 13 |
Labels found by the exihitions in Umami Ruins. "DEKKAI HITUDE NANNDESUYO" means "It's a big brush" in Japanese, possibly in reference to some art on the wall in this stage that seems to be depicting an ancient squid person with what looks like a large brush, which this label can be found next to. "OSHIRISU NO TENKU" is potentially a reference to the Yugioh card Silfer the Sky Dragon, named Oshirisu no Tenkūryū in Japanese. "NIDANNGUMIZA KOI" translates to "Text column 2 is thick". It's unclear what that text is in reference to. "RAA NOTAI YOSIN HA KAKOII" translates to "Ra, the god of the Sun, is cool", referencing Ra, the Ancient Egyptian god of the Sun. | |

A door and sign found in the hallways on the perimeter of Robo ROM-en. "STFONL" appears on the door, seeming to be a corruption of "Staff Only". The rest of the text appears on the sign, with the smaller text being Japanese, roughly translating to "You can rest here, we have snacks". | |

Information boards seen when entering the spawns in Splatoon 3's Bluefin Depot. The text is meaningful Japanese, though due to the quality of the textures it is difficult to read. The text at the top seems to be talking about the rich history of something (presumabley Bluefin Depot) and a connection to octopi. The text at the bottom roughly translates to "Very impressive that _ was hidden in the lighthouse", though the subject of the sentence is unclear. The lighthouse mentioned is visible on another information board like this, and can be seen in the background of Bluefin Depot. | |
NEGITORO TANKOINO REKINI NI TUITE KOKONI SIRUSITE IKOTOOMO | Another information board found in Bluefin Depot. Translates to "Regarding the history of bluefin depot, I hereby declare it an archeological site." | |

KENTAIKITTOTTENANNOKOTO | Text on the bag attatched to Agent 8's ink tank, which explodes when they fail a test. Translates to "What do you mean, 'specimen kit'?". The 'specimen kit' is the name of this exploding bag[1], though the term was never officially translated to English. | |

HOPPING
TBUO |
A pogo stick found in one of the memory cubes in Side Order. "HOPPING" is likely derived from the Japanese word for pogo stick, ホッピング Hoppingu, but could just mean "hopping" by itself. | |
YSAKUA. NSEONSAU
KUSAYA ONSEN ONSEN TO OISII SYOKUZAI MONO KUSAYA |
A poster for Brinewater Springs seen in the stage itself and in Inkopolis Plaza (in landscape format, above the train station). "KUSAYA ONSEN" is the Japanese name of Brinewater Springs, and "SYAKUA. NSEONSAU" seems to be a scrambling of that. "ONSEN TO OISII SYOKUZAI MONO" roughly translates to "Hot springs and tasty ingredients". The little map in the bottom right corner also labels the location with the red dot as "KUSAYA". |

Complex archive
A sort of maybe forever WIP plan to make a more complex tumblr archive template, that lets you put images wherever. Splits the template up into 3 parts: Header, Content & Footer. Header & Footer are the same as the regular archive, but Content will just let you put in raw wikitext, that'll be contained within a div and formatted by a class. I need to look more into templates to see whats possible and what's not. I hope it could be all 1 template, but I think each section could be its own template if needed. If thats too confusing then we could have another template that calls on those templates. I'm not sure if that's a good idea though.

Template inputs something like this:
{{Template:Tumblr archive |pfp=srl |username=splatoonus |content=Hello welcome to the tumblr content [[File:S3 Splatfest Icon Aliens.png]] Hi again [[File:S3 Splatfest Icon Nessie.png]] |date=Septober 03, 1933 |original=https://splatoonus.tumblr.com/post/133676974586 |tag=Splatoon 2 |tag2=Nintendo Switch |tag3=Nintendo |tag4=Splatoween |tag5=Splatfest }}
Sidenote: I wonder if we could format the tag inputs as a list, then format those like tags like how some people make navbars?
{{Template:Tumblr archive |tags=* Splatoon 2 * Nintendo Switch * Nintendo * Splatoween * Splatfest }}
Maybe that'd be too confusing for editors though. I don't know if it's possible, anyway.
