For existing and upcoming DLC, see Downloadable content.

Since being launched, Splatoon has received version updates that corrected glitches, enhanced the gameplay experience, or added content. Most additional content released for Splatoon is included in the data of the initial version, and is unlocked by Nintendo later on. The August Update is the first update to add content such as weapons, modes, and gear that were not included in the initial version's data.

The following is a history of all versions and their known changes. 1.0.0 is the initial version of the game.

  • New Gear:

    • When the player's Rank goes up, the winning percentage will be reset.
  • Battle Adjustments:
    • Fixed the issue in which the blasts from Blaster weapons don’t quite reach the opponent even though the direct hit marker (x) is displayed while taking aim.
    • Adjusted the amount of damage that rollers inflict when rolling over Splash Shields to match the amount of damage they inflict when rolling over opponents.
    • Adjustments were made in Tower Control so that Sprinklers placed on the towers break when they hit the ground (The Sprinklers previously only broke if they were placed on the ground and were hit by the towers).
  • Other:

2.1.0

Main article: Version 2.1.0

Released on September 2nd, 2015.

      • Players are no longer able to jump across a gap in Camp Triggerfish that granted them easy access to the other team’s turf.

    • Other
      • After installing update Version 2.0.0, many players experienced error code 104-2230 which required them to restart their Wii U system before seeing the changes from the update. This issue has been fixed.
