(Which do you like? It's an instant noodle showdown!)

(Oohh~! Clap clap clap~)
NOJ

(The contestants are... juicy deep‐fried tofu - "Akai Kitsune" (Red Fox)! And--)

(Savory tempura is the key! "Midori no Tanuki" (Green Tanuki)!)
NOJ
Notes: Kitsune (Fox) means "with deep‐fried tofu" in case of noodles. Tanuki means "with tenkasu or tempura". Akai Kitsune and Midori no Tanuki are the trading names.

(I'll totally vote for Red Fox! Marie, you?)

(...Callie, are you just picking your favorite color?)
NOJ

(No I'm not! Deep-fried tofu is all nice and juicy, especially when you leave it for a bit!)

(Oh, I'm so sorry.)
NOJ

(So, why'd you go with your choice?)

(Um, it's fun to see if you can keep the tempura above the noodles while you eat it.)
NOJ

(Well, we can put rice in the soup after eating the noodles and have a whole new dish! It's double the yum.)

(But we can both do that...)
NOJ

Trivia

  • The theme of the Splatfest reflects the large kitsune and tanuki statues found in Inkopolis Plaza.
  • The change in battle multiplier from x2 to x6 in Version 2.2.0 changed the outcome of the second Red Fox vs. Green Tanuki event, as if the original x2 battle multiplier was used, it would have ended in a tie.
  • This Splatfest theme was the only one to be repeated in Splatoon within the same region.
