Chill Season 2022 is the upcoming season for Splatoon 3. It comes with the Version 2.0.0 update and will start on 1 December 2022.
Announcement
Chill Season 2022 was announced on 14 November 2022 on the @SplatoonNA and @SplatoonJP Twitter accounts. A higher-quality trailer was also uploaded to Nintendo's official North American and Japanese YouTube accounts.
Catalog
A new Catalog for this season will be added as well as the new function to view the content in-game. Like in Drizzle Season 2022, all content included in this catalog will be available from the start until the end of the season. Titles, Emotes, Tableturf Battle cards, food and drink tickets, and banners given are random unless specifically shown.
Confirmed content
- X Battle game mode, unlockable after reaching a rank of S+0 or higher in Anarchy Battle.[1]
- Early information from the SplatNet 3 application API shows the mode rotation for X Battle will be distinct from Anarchy Battle (Series) and Anarchy Battle (Open), which will make three different ranked modes available at any given time.
- Big Run event.
- Big Run stage(s): Wahoo World
- New catalog.
- New stages:
- Flounder Heights, a (modified) returning stage from Splatoon. It is an apartment complex filled with Jellyfish.
- Brinewater Springs, a new stage. It is a public bathhouse in the middle of an urban environment.
- New Salmon Run Next Wave stage:
- Marooner's Bay, a returning stage from Splatoon 2. It is a large metal ship marooned on a sandbar.
- New weapons:
- The Splattershot Nova, with Point Sensors and the Killer Wail 5.1. It seems to have great accuracy and long range, similar to the Splattershot Pro, however a faster fire rate and weaker damage.
- The Big Swig Roller. It outputs large amounts of ink while rolling and flinging, similar to the Dynamo Roller, but it rolls and flings at a higher speed, similar to the Splat Roller. It also has a long-range vertical flick, similar to the Flingza Roller.
- The Snipewriter 5H, a charger with the Tacticooler. It can charge and store up to five shots at once. It notably takes two shots to splat an opponent.
- New weapon variants:
- The Tentatek Splattershot, with Splat Bombs.
- The Dapple Dualies Nouveau, with Torpedoes.
- The Forge Splattershot Pro, with Suction Bombs and the Booyah Bomb.
- A Mini Splatling variant, possibly the Zink Mini Splatling, with Toxic Mist and the Big Bubbler.
- A Luna Blaster variant, with Fizzy Bombs. It is notably similar to the Kensa Luna Blaster.
- 5 more weapon variants are confirmed to be added, though they are currently unknown.[2]
- New gear:
- Plain black glasses.
- A white variant of the Ocho OctoPhones.
- A Forge rugby helmet.
- A sepia variant of the Apex Sweater.
- A white variant of the Ink-Black Paddle Jack.
- A featureless long-sleeved white shirt.
- A black sweater with a white design below the neck, seemingly from Annaki.
- A neon green and black variant of the Berry Ski Jacket.
- An inverted variant of the Orca Bolero.
- Blue high shoes with a wing design.
- Brown fuzzy boots.
- Simple black shoes.
- White shoes with red triangles.
- Black & white Toni Kensa shoes.
- Returning gear:
- Skull Bandana.
- SV925 Circle Shades.
- Fake Contacts, confirming leaks of their return.
- Jellyvader Cap.
- Annaki Beret.
- Ink-Wash Shirt.
- Dark Bomber Jacket.
- Squink Wingtips.
- Annaki Tigers.
- Gold Hi-Horses, which were also leaked to be returning.
