The Cap of Legend, known in Splatoon as the Legendary Cap, is headgear in the Splatoon series.
In Splatoon, it is a 3-star item produced by Cuttlegear and comes with the primary ability Damage Up. It is only available as a reward from Judd for reaching Level 50. It cannot be ordered from another player.
In Splatoon 2, it is a 3-star item produced by Grizzco and comes with a random primary ability generated when it is received. It is only available as a reward from Salmon Run as the monthly gear or in a Pink Capsule. It cannot be ordered from another player.
In Splatoon 3, it is a 2-star item produced by Grizzco and comes with the ability Last-Ditch Effort.
Appearance
The Cap of Legend is modeled after Cap'n Cuttlefish's signature peaked cap, with the main difference being that it changes color to match that of the wearer's Ink. It is made of somewhat worn dark fabric with a lighter patch sewn onto the top and a dark-colored visor, which, along with the band, is lined with a dull gold. The insignia is the Cuttlegear logo in the same dull gold on a dark blue circular shape.
In Splatoon only, when worn by Inkling boys, the cap has a torn hole on the top for the tentacle topknot, matching that of the Cap'n Cuttlefish's.
Splatoon
Abilities
The Legendary Cap comes with Damage Up as the primary ability. As a 3-star item, the Legendary Cap comes with three additional slots for secondary abilities. Since it is made by the Cuttlegear gear brand, it has equal chances to roll any secondary ability.
Splatoon 2
Abilities
The Cap of Legend comes with a random primary ability that can also appear as secondary abilities, which prevents the wearer from having Comeback, Last-Ditch Effort, Opening Gambit, or Tenacity as they are exclusive to Headgear and cannot appear as secondary abilities. This primary ability is assigned randomly when the item is received. As a 3-star item, the Cap of Legend comes with three additional slots for secondary abilities. Since it is made by the Grizzco gear brand, it has equal chances to roll any secondary ability.
Splatoon 3
The Cap of Legend returns in Splatoon 3 as part of Drizzle Season 2023. It can only be obtained with fish scales.
Abilities
The Cap of Legend comes with Last-Ditch Effort as the primary ability, which, being exclusive to the main slot of Headgear, prevents the wearer from also having Comeback, Opening Gambit, or Tenacity. As a 2-star item, the Cap of Legend comes with three additional slots for secondary abilities. The star level may be increased with Super Sea Snails for 1 (first), 1 (second), 5 (third), 10 (fourth), or 20 (fifth) Super Sea Snails per star. Increasing the star level beyond 2 stars will increase the gear experience gained by a cumulative 3.333…% up to 10% additional experience at 5-star level. Since it is made by the Grizzco gear brand, it has equal chances to roll any secondary ability.
