There were seven stages available in rotation, as opposed to the twelve in the full game. Stages for Splatfest Battle included: Scorch Gorge, Eeltail Alley, Undertow Spillway, Mincemeat Metalworks, Museum d'Alfonsino, and Mahi-Mahi Resort. The only stage for Tricolor Turf War was Sturgeon Shipyard.
The event itself took place on 2022-08-27; players could take part in the twelve-hour Splatfest at different times depending on their selected region. During the event, players were allowed entry to the lobby and thus could play Open or Pro Splatfest Battles. Splatfest Battles had a chance to turn into x10, x100 or x333 Battles, rewarding larger amounts of clout to the winning team. Tricolor Turf War unlocked following the event's Halfway Report, which occurred six hours after the event's start.

This Splatfest also introduced a new mode, called Tricolor Turf Wars, where in the second half of the Splatfest, the three Splatfest teams could play in a three-way Turf War.
None of the cash, experience, Super Sea Snails or other save data created during the demo could be carried over to the full version of the game upon its release.

The demo also included a seven-day free trial for Nintendo Switch Online to allow anyone to take part, which was emailed to players when the demo began.

*For no given reasons, Australia and New Zealand were combined with Hong Kong and South Korea when selecting a region upon first starting the demo, despite that they are combined with the Americas in the main game, like in S2. However, it is likely this was done to better account for time zones, an issue not present with the full game's 48-hour Splatfests, hence why it only affected the demo.

This was likely done to better account for time zone differences, an issue not present with the 48-hour Splatfests seen in the full game, hence why it only affected the demo.
** Additionally, Japanese Splatfest text was available for the Australia/New Zealand/Hong Kong/South Korea region, despite the game warning that this may not be the case for players whose system language is set to Japanese.

The Splatoon 3 Splatfest World Premiere was a free Splatoon 3 demo featuring the Rock vs. Paper vs. Scissors Splatfest. Much like its predecessor, it allowed players to engage in up to twelve hours of four-versus-four Splatfest Turf Wars, as well as up to six hours of four-versus-two-versus-two Tricolor Turf Wars ahead of the full game's release.

Details

The demo was made available to pre-order on 10 August 2022, immediately after its reveal in the Splatoon 3 Nintendo Direct; pre-loads of the software began on 18 August 2022. This demo introduced the Tricolor Turf War mode, wherein all three Splatfest teams compete in a special three-way Turf War at once.

Starting from 25 August 2022, the demo was available to play; players were allowed to complete the tutorial, choose a side in the Rock vs. Paper vs. Scissors Splatfest, explore Splatsville, adjust their Splashtag, as well as both view and create posts. All forms of matchmaking were unavailable as players were not allowed to enter any Lobbies nor shops; a limited selection of weapons and gear were automatically unlocked for each player, with the option to equip any of the available options at the player's leisure.

On the same day, a seven-day free trial for Nintendo Switch Online was made available with the intent to allow all Nintendo Switch owners to participate in the demo. The trial codes were emailed to players immediately upon downloading the demo to their Nintendo Switch and featured a limited activation period from 25 September 2022 until 31 September 2022 at 08:00 UTC.[1]

The event itself took place on 27 August 2022; players could take part in the twelve-hour Splatfest at different times depending on their selected region.

None of the cash, experience, Super Sea Snails or other save data created during the demo could be carried over to the full version of the game upon its release.

Customizable options

Upon opening the Splatfest World Premiere demo and completing the tutorial, all players had the following customizable weapon, gear and Splashtag options fully unlocked. Players started out with the Splattershot Jr., Cephalo Pods, Tri-Shred Tee and Force ReBoots equipped, as well as the default Splashtag.

Trivia

  • For unknown reasons, Australia and New Zealand were combined with Hong Kong and South Korea when selecting a region upon first starting the demo; this goes against the fact those countries are combined with the Americas in the full game, like in Splatoon 2. This was likely done to better account for time zone differences, an issue not present with the 48-hour Splatfests seen in the full game, hence why it only affected the demo.
    • Additionally, Japanese Splatfest text was available for the Australia/New Zealand/Hong Kong/South Korea region, despite the game warning that this may not be the case for players whose system language is set to Japanese.
