The spawner is a mechanic introduced in Splatoon 3. It functions as an entrance into battles. The act of entering the battle using a spawner is called a Squid Spawn.[1][2]
The spawner was first shown in the Splatoon 3 announcement trailer.[3]
Description
The spawner bears a strong resemblance to a cappuccino machine, continuing the theme of the spawn points in Splatoon 2. The symbol on the bottom resembles the spawn point from Splatoon and Splatoon 2. Each Inkling and Octoling spawns on the spawner with a different animation depending on which weapon they are using.

The player is able to aim for a landing spot before being launched into battle by the spawner. A squid shaped arrow symbol is placed on the ground to show where the player will land, and where teammates will land if they launch at the same time.[4] The player is able to aim upwards to a limited degree as well.
When starting the match, the position can be locked using , and the spawners fire automatically. The spawners also serve as spawn points when players are splatted; the player may aim for an indefinite amount of time and fire at will with .
Although players can Super Jump from it[5], it is not possible to Super Jump back to the spawner. Instead, they are Super Jumped to somewhere close to their spawn.
Players are given temporary armor, indicated by a white glow, after landing at the start of a match and after the player respawns. The effects of the armor are similar to those of the Ink Armor special weapon from Splatoon 2.

Trivia
- Unlike spawn points, spawner landing spots can be inked by the enemy team. This means a team can theoretically ink 100% of a stage in Splatoon 3.
- Depending on if a stage takes place in a building (MakoMart, Barnacle & Dime, etc.), the spawners with fly in from a side view of the stage rather than a top-down view of it.
- After an Inkling or Octoling launches themself or Super Jumps from the spawner, the spawner will disappear after a few seconds.
- In the case of a Super Jump, the spawner's top lid will pop off, revealing a hollow inside.
