- Ice Cream redirects here. For the Splatfest in Splatoon 3, see Vanilla vs. Strawberry vs. Mint Chip.
Cake vs. Ice Cream was a Splatfest event in Splatoon 2. It was held in North America, Oceania, and Europe. It was announced on 6 July 2017. The event lasted four hours. The results were given on 16 July 2017.
It was accessible by downloading the Splatoon 2 Splatfest World Premiere from the Nintendo eShop.
Details
The full name of each choice was "Cake is better than ice cream!" and "Ice cream is better than cake!". The team name portion of Splatfest titles was "Cake" and "Ice Cream".
The Splatfest World Premiere was a free demo that only allowed players to play the Splatoon 2 tutorial, see the news announcement of the Cake vs. Ice Cream Splatfest, and choose a side. All of this could be done in advance of the Splatfest event. Unlike the full version of Splatoon 2, the Splatfest World Premiere had only two stages per two hours. For the first two hours, Starfish Mainstage and Inkblot Art Academy were playable. For the last two hours, Moray Towers and Humpback Pump Track were playable.

Trivia
- Cake vs. Ice Cream and its associated Japanese Splatfest, Rock vs. Pop were the only Splatfests in Splatoon 2 to last shorter than 24 hours.
- They are also the shortest Splatfests in the series, as the Splatfest of the Splatoon 3 Splatfest World Premiere (Rock vs. Paper vs. Scissors) lasted twelve hours.
- This Splatfest and its associated Japanese one were the only Splatoon 2 Splatfests to lack variations of Shifty Station.
- Ebb & Flow was the only battle theme that played during this Splatfest.
- Team Ice Cream was the most popular team to have won a Splatfest, and the most popular team in Splatoon 2.
- However, it was not the most popular team in the series, losing that title to Team Ninja in Barbarian vs. Ninja by 1% of the popular vote.
