The "little buddy" is a Smallfry that accompanies the player in Splatoon 3. They can be customized with different hairstyles and assist the player in Hero Mode, where they can be thrown at enemies to bite them. They are unaffected by Fuzzy Ooze and can even eat it to clean it up.

Trivia

• It is unknown how or why the bond between the player's Inkling or Octoling and this Smallfry was formed - this is unusual due to the normal aggression Salmonids show towards Inklings and Octolings.
  • This Smallfry's nose matches its gray color, whereas the Smallfry encountered in Salmon Run have red noses. Additionally, this Smallfry's clothes are gray instead of the lime color worn by Smallfry in Salmon Run.
• The little buddy sometimes rides in the player's ink tank in the Hero Mode.
