The Special-Forces Beret, known in Splatoon and Splatoon 2 as the Special Forces Beret, is headgear in the Splatoon series.

In Splatoon, it is a 3-star item produced by Forge and comes with the primary ability Opening Gambit. It can be purchased from Cooler Heads for Cash 9,700.

In Splatoon 2, it is a 3-star item produced by Forge and comes with the primary ability Opening Gambit. It can be purchased from Headspace for Cash 9,700 or from SplatNet 2 Gear Shop for Cash 14,550.

In Splatoon 3, it is a 2-star item produced by Forge and comes with the primary ability Opening Gambit. It can be purchased from Naut Couture for Cash 9,700 or from SplatNet 3 Shop for Cash 14,550.

Appearance

The Special-Forces Beret is a military-style beret pushed to the right. It changes color to match that of the wearer's ink, with the exception of the band, the strings in the back, and the flash. The band is black and slightly shiny; the strings, which are quite short, are also black; and the flash, a circular emblem with a fish skeleton and a simplified Splat Charger, is a metallic gray. On the back is the Inkling text from the Forge logo in black.

Very dark ink colors, such as the dark blue used in Ranked Battles in Splatoon, can cause the Special-Forces Beret to become a dark gray.

When displayed in a Locker in Splatoon 3, this gear is placed on a black mannequin head.

The Special Forces Beret was added in Version 2.3.0, released on 13 November 2015 at 01:00 UTC.

Abilities

The Special Forces Beret comes with Opening Gambit as the primary ability, which, being exclusive to the main slot of Headgear, prevents the wearer from also having Comeback, Last-Ditch Effort, or Tenacity. As a 3-star item, the Special Forces Beret comes with three additional slots for secondary abilities. Since it is made by the Forge gear brand, it has a higher chance of rolling Special Duration Up and a lower chance of rolling Ink Saver (Sub) to fill its secondary ability slots.
