The Jelletons[1] of Splatoon 3: Side Order relentlessly hunt Agent 8 and the Pearl Drone, serving as the standard enemy species found within the Spire of Order. They appear to spawn via an unknown black orb-like mechanism. It is unclear if they are living organisms or machines, and they relentlessly stalk Agent 8 in pursuit of following an unknown objective.[2]

Appearance

The Jelleton appear to be mechanical parrotfish with see-through gelatinous components. They are outlined in black, with only their fins sticking out. Their eyes pop out of their sockets, their irides are red with the scleras kept white.

These enemies attack via lunging directly at Agent 8. The smaller variants of the enemies appear to be able to manipulate their height via their gelatinous components.

Types

They have three different sizes:

Quotes

These mysterious enemies pursue Agent 8 relentlessly in Wave 2 of the #Splatoon3: Expansion Pass, Side Order. Are they lifeforms, or machines? Whatever they are, they seem to be gearing up for something…

This just in from SRL Oppo Research: some fishy foes are all over the Spire of Order. They look like animated fish bones—biological or mechanical, we have no idea. All of them seem to act in harmony toward the same goal, but alas, that goal is to relentlessly harass Agent 8.

Trivia

  • The Jelleton' appearance is similar to that of parrotfish, sea animals that can play a significant role in bioerosion including the destruction of coral.
  • The Jelleton are the first enemy species in the Splatoon series' story campaigns to not be Octarian or a variant (sanitized and fuzzy) of them.
    • However, they share similarities with Salmonids, as they attack the player continuously instead of being stationary until provoked. The three sizes are also similar to the Lesser Salmonids, namely Smallfry, Chums and Cohocks.
